Worst professor ever. This had to be the worst class I ever took. He is a very harsh grader and doesn't care about his students. He also put's down on other students and comments about others. His review material is awful and so is his midterm and final. His quizzes are also trash. if anyone will take this class read this review and think twice.

I took LIT210H. The other science majors and I found him to be highly unprofessional in commentary and in action towards us. I tried to get feedback on a paper, and he tried to give me feedback on my major. I got contradictory comments and marked wrong where I was right. The class itself is not that hard tho; it's tiring for an entry level course.

Gives incredibly long readings for homework, very dry content. His lectures are very boring, not very lively, most of the time it is just him talking. Gives quizzes every single class to make sure you read, would not recommend.

Very poor professor. An excess of reading in this class that is not possible if someone is taking a difficult major and is an involved person on campus. Takes a basic, mandatory to take, intro class way too serious. Has called out students in class for simply reading a poem "incorrectly". Rude professor, do anything to not take it with him.

Professor Vande Brake is a phenomenal teacher. He's well knowledged in the subjects he teaches. If he can't answer a question during class, Professor Vande Brake tries to do research on it to answer in the future. He's very helpful and takes the time to help make sure you understand the course material. Overall, classes seem long but informative.

Professor was not very helpful at all... Very frustrated with the class. I would recommend taking it with another Professor if at all possible. He was very confusing and really only accepted any of your answers if they aligned with his. Very passionate about literature and I wish I understood how to be better informed about his class.

Hard class, tons of reading, but it was worth it. I wasn't a fan of testing before we cover the materials, but it wasn't too awful in the end. Yes, he's hard, but he has such a passion for Lit that no one else in the world has.
