Good teacher and good guy. There are 10 video essays (about 500 words each) and 4 or 5 500 word essays about one of the books. The class is very lecture heavy, but his lectures aren't bad. Study for the tests, and you should be able to find quizlets online for his class (he reuses some test questions). I made an A with medium effort.

Dr. Nicholson was an amazing professor. You can tell he really cares about you learn gin history and not just history statistics. You do have 10 2page papers to write throughout the semester, but they are pretty easy. If you put forth somewhat of effort you will be fine. Wish all professors cared like him!

Amazing lectures, avoids opinionated statements, sticks to every letter of the syllabus, stays on subject, always on time, extensively knowledgeable. Lots of writing, but won't count off for grammar or other simple nonsense. Only pass/fail grades on writings. Prepares you for tests. No final. Wonderful man and best history professor I've ever had.

Here is how the class goes: you take 4 80 question tests that are half based on his power points and half form the text book. He doesn't make you read the textbook but I highly suggested opening it. Then the only other grades are 10 video responses/ 5 chapter responses in a book he makes you read through out the semester. He is great professor.

You could tell he wanted the best for each student. 4 80-question tests, but they were not difficult if you studied the review slides. Also gives you the opportunity to replace the lowest test grade with a paper at the end of the semester. Takes attendance so you must show up. Overall I would absolutely recommend.

Awesome professor! There are 4 tests in total worth 20% each. Then there are video responses and loewen responses throughout the semester that are very easy which are equal to the last 20% of the grade. He offers an optional essay at the end of the semester to replace your lowest test grade. Show up to class and sign in. Lots of lectures.

Best professor I've had! If you go to class and study, it's an easy A. Video responses help your grade, and you can make half credit if your a little late. Study the review words, and read the Loewen book. He gives extra credit at the end, and ALWAYS responds to emails, and keeps you up to date with your grade!

Good professor, very nice and generally entertaining. You watch lots of videos in class & responses to them are always due 2 days after watching. 4 exams, no cumulative final, with an optional essay due at the end of the semester to replace your lowest exam grade. Study all the terms he puts at the end of his powerpoint and you'll be fine!

Professor Nicholson was a pleasure to have as a professor! History is not my strong subject at all but his lectures were entertaining and that man is hilarious!! Read the chapter before class so you know what is going on. You're allowed to use your laptop, allowed 3 absences from class. His tests are fairly easy if you study. Take Nicholson!!

Fantastic teacher with a great sense of humor. If you have perfect attendance, he'll add 2 points to your final grade. He has (3) 80-question scantron tests & a dozen 1-paragraph video/book chapter responses that make up his grading & he offers extra credit. His tests are super easy & he makes learning fun. I recommend taking his class if you can.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Definitely attend the lecture, you don't have to read the book to pass but it'll definitely help. Literally all you have to do to get A's on the tests is look at the review slides he posts at the end of each chapter. Know those topics only and you will ace the tests. He is so adorable, very informed about this subject, Easy A

Great professor! Very clear with assignments and answers back quickly to emails. Assigns 5, one paragraph responses to a book which is really easy and offers an optional writing assignment at the end of the semester if you need to raise your grade. Very funny in lectures and keeps students interested.

He has one joke that is somehow funny every time he does it. He is the most interesting history professor I have had. You are inspired by his passion in the subject. I hate history and I still found this class very interesting and even looked forward to it. The book he teaches with is a real eye opener. Take him if you want to actually learn

Nicholson is a great professor. All I did was print out the review slides and take notes according to them. Aced every test. Make sure you write up the videoloewen responses and you'll do fine. And SHOW UP. His lectures cover more than the power points show and you'll need the information he has.

Super easy class. He posts all the power points online and doesn't take attendance. You really don't have to show up except for tests. The lectures are actually pretty entertaining and he's a funny guy. His test are 80 multiple choice questions from the lecture. You don't need the textbook, but you need the Loewen book.

I really enjoyed this class and the way Prof Nicholson teached. He tried to make class fun, you do need to show up as he takes points off your final grade if you miss too many classes. There are 10 video responses and 4 group responses, all very easy. Four tests which questions come mostly from class notes and discussions. Easy A/B if you attend.

Professor Nicholson was probably my favorite professor. He's very organized, clear, and precise in his instructions w/r/t the work assigned in class. 4 tests, multiple choice, not cumulative. 10 video responses due for the semester (not hard, 1 page each), but if you complete those all, you can get Bs on all the tests and still get an A.
