Quite simply one of the greatest professors in Bloomington. Truly inspiring. He is the type of professor who you do not forget, someone who can really bring out the best in students. If you are lazy, it might not be for you. But if you care about getting an excellent education in Bloomington, definitely enroll in one of his courses. Outstanding.

There is a lot of hate on this board towards professor Sinno. I honestly find that weird. He is strict but very nice and a first class teacher. I learnt more from him than any other at IU and I appreciate that.

Comment:
While I enjoyed Sinno's personality and clear knowledge of the course, he sometimes came off very arrogant to students clearly struggling with concepts. The attendance policy is very harsh- if you're a second over five minutes late, you can't stay. Tough weekly homework assignments. The midterm and final project were also very challenging.

Comment:
Sinno does not effectively teach all of the material required, especially in a class such as Y205 that requires quite a bit of knowledge of Excel. As well, Sinno has an incredibly harsh attendance policy where if you are late he will block you from coming to class. Very arrogant as well.

Comment:
Sinno is very disrespectful to students. His course is challenging, but he gives opportunities for extra credit. His exams are lengthy and involve long essays to propose solutions to the world's crises, and perfection in 1 hour. If your writing is not up to his "standards", he will grade you likewise, but leaves absolutely no feedback on exams.

Comment:
Sinno knows the material extremely well. I found his lectures interesting, but at times a little basic. The class only has tests and no homework or essays which was nice. I though the tests were pretty straightforward. Sinno can be quite offensive on rather sensitive topics. I don't recommend the class if you have strong feelings on the middle east

Solid freaking professor. His lectures are full of energy. It's clear he has a passion for his work. Expect to put in the time to do the required reading. If you do the work and take advantage of the extra credit opportunities, there is no excuse for getting less than 100% in the class.

This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. You can never understand him, he makes rude jokes, and is the least helpful teacher when it comes to explaining is random and confusing grading. He makes absolutely no sense. Worst teacher.

Information he requires you to know for tests is pointless and time wasting. Nobody cares about the specific populations of 14 countries.

This class was focussed on the last 75 years in the middle east so do not expect it to be on current events. Sinno grades hard and you have to do the readings to do well on the tests. Do not take this class unless you have an interest and plan on working hard. Sinno is very smart and knowledgable on topics but this was not an easy 200 level course

Honestly, this is a very interesting course. The material covered in class may be seen as biased, however it is not. If you are wanting to expand your knowledge about the truth of middle eastern politics and issues, it is a wonderful class. HOWEVER, dr. Sinno is RUDE and arrogant. This is one of the hardest classes you will take. Mostly essay exams

This guy is extremely biased. To sum up his Middle East politics class: America is evil, Israel is evil, the Arabs are wonderful. This class was nothing but absurd lies and propaganda. If you actually took the time to read the textbooks assigned, you would be able to tell how often he gave outright false explanations for historical events.

Great teacher. Presented all the facts and history on the region in the Middle East. I wouldn't say he's biased at all,he just doesn't care if he offends anyone by stating the truth.

He is not biased. His job is not to protect "feelings" of whomever is politically committed but to share knowledge. Everything he says is accurate so it is a pitty some pro-whatever people feel bothered.

Highly knowledgeable, but incredibly biased in his presentation of events esp regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. As someone who majored in Jewish Studies, it is amazing to me that he is not more sensitive to both sides of the conflict and presents it in such a discriminatory manner.
