Seemed mean, but honestly a great guy once you head to office hours. Information is presented in a logical way. Math heavy, but you can't blame the professor for that. Exams are very fair. Although he's a solid professor, still pray for a great TA to help you reiterate the information and condense it to the most important bits.

I did not like this class. I've taken related courses and have interest and experience with spectroscopy (I wanted to learn more). This class was an advanced mathematics course with little insight on concepts or techniques. It doesn't seem useful, and I was disappointed; also, the HW seemed ridiculous and it was not interesting. Buy the book!

HW 10%, Midterm 40%, Final 50%. A lot of HW and tough grading for 10%, and mostly Diff Eq. Read chapters and you will see it's the same as lectures, but lectures are clear and helpful; show up to lectures and sessions, and ask questions! Check exams for re-grade: Graders make a lot of mistakes, and short re-grade period... it messed up my grade!

When I first started the class, I thought he was going to be an unhelpful jerk. But he is actually very kind and willing to help, so long as you show him that you are trying. His lectures are extremely clear. At first you will think you will not have to go to class, but GO! Midterm directly reflected class. Offers multiple review sessions too.

He is very clear when he lectures and his slides are helpful, but his tests aren't very representative of his lessons. You may have to look deeper into the textbook/slides to get some of the answers on the test (he won't cover everything in class). The good thing is that there is a generous curve and homework is like free points.

I have no idea why people think he is easy. I'm intelligent and take school seriously, but this was the worst class I have ever taken. The tests are NOTHING like what he teaches. He is moody and expects you to know everything already. Not recommeded.

Lectures really quickly and uses a powerpoint so it's hard to take notes from him, but his tests are basically his practice tests. Read the book and do the practice tests

Great Professor, really like his teaching style. I would definitely attend ALL the lectures and take the homework seriously as it's worth a considerable amount of easy points if you commit the time. The midterm was very challenging, but the final was much easier, so overall,it was a pleasant experience. Would recommend!

He is the kind of professor that is bad at giving lectures but makes up for it by making easy exams so overall he's a 3/5 from me. Lectures are boring but he gives pop quizzes so you should try to attend class. Exams are a combination of homework problems plus about 4 or 5 questions lifted straight from the practice exams. Somewhat easy A.

Professor Sinha is actually a really good professor. He is very clear at explaining concepts and is willing to answer questions from students at all times. Tests are very similar to practice tests, so just do the practice tests and you'll be just fine for midterms and final.

Professor Sinha was a surprisingly good professor despite the past negative comments on here. Uses lecture slides and explains the concepts well. Also, he makes the practice tests VERY similar to the actual tests. . While going to lectures is not mandatory, he does give pop quizzes but the quizzes are easy if you pay attention.

Good professor overall. Explains the concepts well. Although there are no clickers,he gives pop reading quizzes in class, but they are pretty easy if you paid attention and showed up to lecture and don't count that much.Exams are fair, and the curve is pretty decent.

This professor was difficult and moody all the time. he gave practice exams but with no answers. half the questions that were on the exam weren't explained at all in class. I have to retake the class with a different teacher. good luck is all I can say

I don't know what people are talking about, Prof. Sinha was one of the worst profs I have ever had at UCSD. To top it off, he was often moody and annoyed at the world during class. His redeeming quality is that he prints lecture slides for you. Tests were really difficult. Take Johnson or Weinberger instead.

This guy is a good professor. Having failed chem the first time by Czorkowsky, I definitely learned a lot more from this guy's teaching style. He explains things clearly and in detail. He can seem to come off mean at times. Homework is checked for grade. Lectures are helpful. note: definitely gets pissed off when people are talking during lecture.
