The grade was only made up of tests and quizzes, so if you don't do well on tests I would advise you not to take his class. Questions on the tests were often trickier than the homework. He does not round or curve the class. You do have an optional final that may replace your lowest test grade, but you need to get a 75 on it or it doesn't count.

He is always accessible outside class, and will answer any questions you may have. Tough grader for sure, but makes sure you understand everything instead of just memorizing formulas. Best math teacher I've ever had, maybe best teacher I've ever had. If you don't pass this class, it is not his fault.

Professor Vance is an excellent teacher! He knows a lot about math and he is interested in it! He is funny and caring. All of the things on the test should be either taught or on the homework. He doesn't give a lot challenge problems. (Maybe 1 per 3 homeworks). He knows the class. I recommend him.

avoid him!! He is the worst professor I have ever taken, his lecture has nothing to do with the test. He will spend tons of time doing proof but not as much explaining the material. prepper to read the textbook and spend hours watching youtube tutorials to understand what is going on in this class. RUN if you can!!!

I took him in fall 2018. He was horrible. His tests were very heavy. He assigned ways too much homework. The tests had nothing to do with the lectures. Get ready to read books by yourself.

One of the most passionate math teachers Ive had. His lectures are fun, informative and funny. He does a good job teaching the material. Homework isnt graded but highly recommended. Quiz every week. Toughest math grader Ive had yet. A lot of emphasis on notation and correct answers; despite flow of work. Have to do it how he likes it done.

Fantastic professor. His lectures are very good. He's funny, and dynamic, explains concepts in an way that is easy to understand. He *IS* a tough grader, but his tests are fair and if you pay attention in class, do the homework; you'll do fine.

Professor Vance is a *great* teacher. His lectures are enthusiastic and well-organized, and he's available during office hours for questions. While there's a lot of suggested homework, the graded homework is relatively light. Exams are very straight-forward (no trick questions), and fairly easy as long as you've been keeping up with the material.

Great teacher. Wants to teach you how to think and not just remember all the many formulas, but be able to derive them. A little bit of a jokester. Depends on your humor if you like it. I enjoyed it. It made the class more bearable for sure.

Dont purchase the book, as you can have it online. Vance is hilarious and honestly a little too happy for my preference lol. He is very smart and there is homework, but it definitely benefits you for the test. If you have questions, dont be afraid to ask or go to his office hours. Great teacher and loves math.

I didn't enjoy this class. Tony tended to belittle us by saying that difficult answers were "clearly obvious" or other condescending statements. He would spend a majority of the class explaining formulas and only a few minutes doing examples, so I never knew how to do the homework or quizzes. He was sometimes funny, but mostly annoying. Don't take.
