Grammar points are actually taught at a good pace and are well-reinforced (way too much vocab though). Gets that the point of intro is not to cover and rush through every single portion of the language, which is great. The textbook for this class is horrible, though, and there are way too many projects. Easy-going and cares about students.

I adore Frau von der Emde as a person. However, I did pass/fail her class because of the overwhelming amount of work and tough grading on quizzes. You will learn a lot, but be prepared to work for it!

A very nice professor and very knowledgable! Learned a lot in this class. She does not go by her syllabus when grading: quizzes are worth more than anything. You can make As on all of the essays but still get a B in the class.

Amazing professor. A must take for Intro German. She is very caring and more than willing to help outside of class. Her grading is obscure though, but still a great teacher.

Avoid her advanced classes if you care about your GPA or thinking outside box. Unclear about her expectations and pushes you to interpret the world through her lens rather than allowing you to try to reconstruct ideas; in this regard, she thinks she knows what's best. Aside from this, she's sweet, funny, and caring. Gave extensions readily.

Silke is a very sweet woman, but she's a trifle disorganised, and is very unclear about her expectations as far as papers are concerned. She isn't that great at steering class discussions, and her lectures tend to be very boring and powerpoint-based. She's probably a great language teacher, but she needs to work towards being a better film teacher.
