Comment:

Professor Whitlow is very sweet, and knowledgeable. He encourages a lot of discussion in the class. All his classes were recorded so even if you missed, you could still watch the lecture. Tests were short, multiple choice, online, and to-the-point. He gives great feedback on writing assignments. Very down to earth, and relaxed.

I had his class for Learning and Memory. Very nice professor and he is really knowledgeable about the course materials. Would definitely take his class again! He is truly one of the professors that I will remember.

Had him for psych of consciousness for spring 2010. He's a great professor - really knows his stuff and pretty approachable. He is soft spoken but he used a mic to try and make up for it. Definitely need to show up to class and pay attention to lectures because the books only explain so much!

Took him for psych of consciousness spring 2010. He is a really nice guy & knows his stuff!! he doesnt take attendance and he lets you use notes on the exam. however, its really difficult to do well if you dont show up and pay attention. very approachable and willing to help any student!! if you want a challange, take him!! its def. worth it!!

I found it VERY difficult to understand the labs, even after explanations. He is VERY soft spoken, so I believe that contributed to the problem. Sit up close so you can hear. He is a very intelligent and understanding professor, talk to him if you are having issues.

Very intelligent - may talk in a low voice - LISTEN and you will learn a LOT. Very helpful at any time and is very fair in all his dealings. If you work hard for this class, you will really benefit a lot because he recognizes it. Funny at times - and i saw the maximum "good use" of time in his class ( ie no sidetracking or wasting time). Thx Prof!

Is the hardest professor I had to date, but he knows he stuff. He lets you use notes on exams, but it didn't help. If you need help he is always available. If you want a challenge take him.

His tests were really hard, but he did grade very fairly. He curved a lot and would accept wrong answers when a majority of the class had the same problem. He is a really nice guy though and loves what he does.

I'm an A student, put more into this class than any other in my major; mumbles to himself up front of class, no material made clear; prof seems an elitist, not there to instruct, doesn't care if you learn; test questions never straightforward to test knowledge; very dangerous class to take if GPA matters to you; severely unorganized and uninvolved

His lectures were interesting and he showed neat demonstrations but the tests were worded tricky. Even if they are open book and open notes, you gota know your stuff before coming in on the test day. His projects are fun to do, so don't sweat them. He's relatively easy, but those tests can bring you down. He also procrastinates in grading.

So grateful this class exists here. Excellent class and texts, stretches the mind, challenges beliefs and gets students to expand their perceptions (or to at least think about them, which many do NOT do ordinarily). The projects were WAY fun/interesting. Espec. if you're interested in cons. studies, take this class! Expect to think and work!

Its not so much him as the class that is hard. Consc. is confusing and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they are seriously interested in the complex interworkings of the mind. However, Whitlow is easy going works with you if you go to him for help. Open notes tests are very hard, but projects are easy and weighted more than tests. No easy A

It is hard to hear him in class becasue he speaks so low. His test are on book but they are very hard. However he grades you projects very easy. SO it is an okay class.
