Read. Read. Read! That's key to passing this class as most exams will be based on the readings assigned. We had 3 exams and 1 cumulative final. She does not respond to emails promptly or not at all so the best chance to chat with her is before/after class.

Race and ethnicity. Gives you the grade she wants to not what you earned. . She jabbers about things that have nothing to do with the class. If you want a fair class done take her. She talks about sex more than the subject matter. She makes you get like 8 books, no point in reading them really you can pass without them. Come for the review!

Her final project was a group project, we did exactly what she wanted, she put the grades in and gave us an 80%, then i checked my grade again a week later and she dropped it to a 75%. she gave no reason as to why she did that.

Well this class sucked it was great until we were administered our second exam which was take-home, which meant nothing because a few people in class did bad on a TAKE HOME EXAM !!! She dropped the lowest exam grade which was great so no one studied for the last exam the day the last exam was given she told us she was getting rid of exam2

What can I say? There's only one Dr. Hazzard and if you are lucky enough to get a seat in her class, you will be treated to an entertaining but very educational philosophical experience. Dr. Hazzard is hands-down one of my favorite educators.

I took Race and Ethnicity and Dance of the African Diaspora with Dr. Hazzard-Donald and both classes where educationally challenging and informative. Reading is a MUST if you don't read the books you won't pass the class. Besides, she offers enough extra credit (course-related) to receive an A in the course if you happen to fail a test or paper.

This was a great class. I heard her speak at a panel discussion and was hooked. I began to sit in her class and I learned so much about African American culture. Despite those who truly don't want to be there and say she is too much, as long as you are interested and have some work ethic this is a great class and professor

I did the reading so I learned a lot.Excellent, intelligent does not tolerate slackers. Half the students in my class did not do the reading yet expects to get an A. Expects you to read, she lectures on topics not in book to increase knowledge.

Would not suggest taking this professor. We were over 5 weeks behind on the syllabus, we never had a final review because we took a test on the last day of class (which didnt even count towards anything). She planned a mandatory trip that we had to pay $30 out of pocket which also counted for nothing towards our final grade.

I don't recommend taking her classes. You can read the book and think you are doing well but when you get to the test it's like reading another language. She does give extra credit though. During class she mainly tells crazy stories about her unrealistic life experiences of being a sociologistic.

Well all of these posts have hit the nail on the head. Gave me the wrong grade and unable to contact her. She doesn't check email or answer to calls. All material is self taught. Attendance mandatory only on test days. She doesn't follow a consistent pattern. Meaning, notes are all over the place. Will avoid this professor at all costs.

TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! Very unorganized! She loves talking about herself and a dance company she wants to open. Mid-term and final are from the text that she never use! I don't recommend taking a course with her. She is rude and unprofessional.

Very entertaining lectures, but not too useful for exams. Pace is self taught as you need to read and study the book. Extra credit assignments are perfect & helpful. Recommend online book and practice test. Tests are intensive, BUT the FINAL IS EXTREME!!!

Definitely the worst professor I've ever had. Loves to tell you she's tenured, and she's very biased. Tests are multiple choice straight out of the book since she doesnt lecture. I wouldn't recommend her.
