He's an amazing professor and so passionate about what he does. As with any foreign language, it requires a good amount of work and effort, but none of his assignments or homework is unreasonable or too difficult. He understands that your knowledge is limited and that you are trying, just show up, participate, and do the work.

Comment:

Ruiz is very straight forward during lectures. He will help you during tests like if you forget a Spanish word even though you're supposed to know it. He will slow down the course to make sure that you fully understand the concept and will give you opportunities during tests for extra credit.

First off, I appreciate the fact that Bladi understands the amount of pressure that college students have to handle (psst, no final!). Secondly, I like that he splits his quizzes by vocab and grammar, so you study one piece at a time and you're better prepared for the test. Compositions are difficult! Practicing re-writing it as much as possible

This is the best Spanish class I have ever taken. Bladi creates an environment that makes everyone comfortable participating. Participation is unavoidable but is a lot of fun. He loves Telenovelas and we watch them in class. Teaches in Spanish 90% of the time. He really tries and expects you to try as well.

Amazing guy! Really great teacher! Can teach the grammar while not letting the class get boring. I've even had lunch with him some and that was awesome too!! He is definitely worth taking. His compositions are semi-hard and his exams aren't cakewalk, but he prepares you well enough so you can do well. He's a champ for sure!

2nd class with him. Will do everything in his power to help you. Expects you to participate. Picky with grammar and emphasizes structure over analysis in written work. Light homework but expect to spend time outside class watching soaps. Take notes because they're more important than all the political and economic movements in LA combined.

awesome guy/teacher, tremendously fair. definitely rewards any/all effort. also helps if you take him more than once. always an enjoyable class, have taken 6 hrs already, and definitely plan to take more. when you have the choice between him and anyone else, definitely pick Ruiz!

Yes, I agree, very easy on the eyes, and what a dresser! Anyway, his class is really interesting & I thought a lot of fun. Lot of time & effort the second half -- don't be fooled by the telenovela theme, it is a lot of work. Hard grader but I still love him and the class.

i want to have this man's babies! he's adorable and really funny. ive taken 12 hours with him, and i've learned SO much. you will really enjoy the classes that you take with him. you need to go to class to do well on tests though. but overall, not too hard at all.

He is so sweet! His little accent and outfits are precious. He's pretty easy and genuinely wants you to learn and understand Spanish. He doesn't really check homework assignments so work is minimal, but study vocab and grammar for tests and you should be fine
