Really easy fun class. Prof Knox made the class enjoyable and relaxed. He was understanding and a very nice man. The grade only relies on 3 exams and a short term paper. Which are all not that hard its a fun class to be in.

Comment:

Hes a very respectable guy. His lectures might get a little boring but hes very knowledgeable and loves what he teaches. His content is straight forward and there are no surprises. He plays interesting videos and is laid back but has a well structured class!

This class is VERY BORING. This professor is annoying and weird. He makes many odd jokes to try and be funny when they simply are not funny or appropriate. Class overall is not too hard as long as you pay attention.

Comment:

Professor Knox is a great professor. I took history of Jazz to complete a general education requirement and he made the class a pleasure to be in. Most of the material is presented in PowerPoint or a documentary. He is also quite funny though some sensitive students may not like his crude humor at points, however it is rarely inappropriate.

Took for history of jazz, easy A with little studying. Each exam is based on the slides he shows in class. Gives you extra credit if you attend concerts outside of class. Most classes he will just show you a documentary.

Very easy A class. Pay attention in class and take notes. Very helpful when you need extra help on a subject. Fun class to take and is very informative. No textbook needed, only grades about 3-4 quizzes, and a paper due at the end of the semester. Attendance is mandatory to pass unless it is a movie.

He is funny and knows what he is talking about! Not super difficult but take notes, especially if you don't know much about jazz. Lots of movies! Pay attention and you will do fine!

Very boring class; He is way more interested in jazz music than classical. Did a lot of extra credit and still got a B+. Doesn't like being confronted by email, I guess. Boring lectures. Most consisted of watching lame movies for the entire class. Do not recommend for Mus110

I really like Dr. Knox, and he really got me into jazz music. Take good notes though, otherwise you won't do well in the class. He is a really funny guy. But if you don't show up to class, you won't do well on the exams. Not too bad of a class.

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! he only showed videos the whole class which is good until your exam comes and you realize you haven't learned anything. Does NOT respond to his emails and isn't helpful in understanding the material. You basically will teach yourself the material or fail. He's a funny guy but he is a horrible professor.

History to Jazz was an awesome class! I took it as a gen ed requirement and enjoyed all the material we went over. You basically just listen to music and watch videos in class which aren't even boring. Show up to class, take notes and a few tests and you've got an easy A! Definitely remind Knox's class

Comment:

Take him for Jazz appreciation, or if you're a musician, take him for a Jazz class. Incredible knowledge of music, fantastic saxophone player, and a great guy to have a beer with. Spent hours hanging with him outside of class listening to albums and meeting famous jazz musicians. It was like the Cosby Show. Carl's the man.

This is a great class to fulfill a gen ed requirement. Dr. Knox is very knowledgeable about jazz, and almost always lectures from memory. He is very sarcastic, but he likes to be social in class and keeps the mood light. We watched a lot of movies. His tests are not difficult and there is extra credit given for going to jazz concerts.

Knox is a funny guy who is passionate about Jazz. Lots of Youtubing in class that is pertinent to the subject material. extra credit is provided for attending concerts at ccsu. Take Knox, you wont regret it
