Comment:

Cohen barley got grades in on time. He was not available outside of class and never answered email. Terrible teacher and terrible teaching style. Would not take again ever.

If you like to learn by powerpoint, then this is your class. He is a very good professor however he is VERY liberal and frequently talks down on conservatives, or he'll make conservatives look bad on his power points. Make sure to take good notes and you'll do well.

Awesome guy. Gov't and politics is an easy course. Buy the textbook! Exams are based off content from the textbook not his powerpoints. You don't have to show up to lectures but discussions once a week are mandatory. You discuss whatever the TA decides at discussion.

I had him for weapons of mass destruction; he is a very laid back guy and knows what he is talking about. You have to take a lot of notes but his powerpoints are very interesting! I would definitely take him again!

Definitely need textbook, tests are based more of reading than lecture. Otherwise, great class, not too hard. Prof. Cohen is easy to relate to and approach.

Professor relied on power points. To get one you miss, you have to go and keep him company in his office. The notes don't leave his office.

A fairly interesting class, major dependence on PowerPoints, though officially they are Apple Keynotes. Cohen is quite knowledgeable and helpful, but highly arrogant and dismissive of contrary opinions, along with tightly guarding course information.

Comment:

Dr. Cohen has been my favorite professor while at UA. Extremely informative, helpful, and makes sure everyone gets the topic. Awesome guy outside of class, likes to bs about politics, and a great help with any other projects you might have. After taking 4 classes with DC, I strongly recommend signing up, even if you don't like politics!

Comment:

Cohen = Definition of "Death by Powerpoint." Fell asleep and wasn't even tired; bring a drool cup. Other than that, nice guy, and easy class. Everyone did terrible for the most part on quizzes (due to high volume of notes, and random questions being asked). Never knew what would be on the quizzes. Still would take him, but you're warned!

Comment:

I took Government & Politics and entry level gen ed with him. He was cool it was during the '12 election so we talked about it a lot. That was interesting. Though I found I only needed to attend his class once a week because the tests were mainly out of the book and not from the lecture. Overall he was cool the TA was who i really interacted with.

The class seemed like it would be interesting at the beginning but ended up dull. He's always on his phone and late to class. He's extremely liberal which is annoying and uses half the class to defend Obama and his policies instead of just leaving discussion open to the class. Overall mediocre class. Unimpressed by this upper level class.

The textbooks are needed for the papers at the end, but the PPs are drawn almost word for word from the books. (Reading helps reinforce the material though.) Cohen is funny and a good lecturer. Just be prepared to write your notes quickly.

I took Congress and WHite house with him. He's a great teacher, quite hilarious and fun. He makes class interesting and appealing. His tests are mainly memorization from the notes, but he gives a general idea of what to study. Overall awesome professor. And he is very willing to help you if needed. I recommend any class he teaches

Comment:

Cohen is a nice guy. Bleeding heart liberal, very biased class and reticules anyone who disagrees with him. His power point presentations aren't updated, and he just fluffs it off as an accident. It's obvious he would rather spend his time doing stuff with the Bliss Institute, rather than teaching this class. If otherwise, he'd update his lectures an take his teaching seriously. But he doesn't.
