Always jokes around in class and you can tell he really cares about music. No midterm or final bc he knows pretty much everyone is there just for gen ed. Tests are straight from the book. Classes rarely last more than 45 min. If you're gonna take music appre, TAKE IT WITH HEYWOOD.

Comment:

Professor Heywood is a very lenient grader. Your average in his class is based on 6 tests with the lowest average dropped at the end of the semester. There's also one three page paper due at the end of the semester and you could earn extra credit by going to concerts outside of class. If you're looking for easy Humanities credit, take him.

Professor Heywood is a really good teacher. His lectures very rarely go over 30 minutes. Always gives study guides which help a lot on the test. Easy humanities class. Get the E-Book.

This class was interesting, and Heywood was very clear on what he taught. He was friendly, and offers extra credit. His tests aren't hard, just make sure you study. Depending on how familiar you are with music already, the difficulty of this class may change.

I loved Professor Heywood! He's a really nice man, and even tries to make lectures more interesting by telling jokes and playing instruments. There are 5 tests but no final, and you have to go to a few concerts recitals. You can get extra credit by going to a couple more. You can get away w not buying the book if you take REALLY good notes!

He's a really nice guy. The class is rather boring. There's 6 tests and no final which was awesome and the lowest test is dropped. You have to see 4 music concerts at the school but he lets you go to up to 4 more for extra credit. The tests are kinda hard sometimes but make sure you read the chapters!

Dave is awesome! Wind ensemble is an excellent class for non-music majors to have fun in. The music is fun, but not too easy, and halfway through class we are given a break to talk. He sometimes let's us go early, but we always play through most of the music first. He thanks us for coming and tells everyone to have a nice day. He's a great prof!

Professor Heywood is a great teacher. He pretty much realizes that no one really wants to be there and takes that into consideration when teaching the class. Lets class out early most of the time, no final, drops lowest test grade, i mean it doesnt get much better than that! take him if you can

teaches a lot about music without making it hard. lecture notes are basically asked word for word on the written part of tests, and he makes the listening parts as easy as possible. 6 small tests throughout the semester, lowest one gets dropped. while he does take attendence, going to class is what makes it easy so you wont mind!

Heywood is an amazing teacher. He is a very down to earth guy. He knows that music may not be "your thing" and breaks classes up by playing instruments and doing fun stuff instead of always lecturing. Get him if you can, hes a great guy.
