Dr. Petersen is an energetic professor who does everything in her power to help her students. She's always so positive. If you put in the work you can get a pretty easy A. No expensive textbooks just a course packet. People say she pushes her agenda but she really cares about environmental issues and it wouldn't hurt privileged UST kids to care.

Dr. Petersen is very nice & is very passionate about the topics we discuss. This is however, all that happens in COJO 328. It covers many interesting topics but there isn't really structure to the class except the busy work she has you do leading up to the final 18 pg research paper. The class isn't hard, there's just not a lot getting me there

Prof. Petersen is one of the most caring professors I've had at St. Thomas! You can tell she really wants her students to do well and she's always more than willing to help and talk to students about their speech topics. I loved being able to practice speeches in front of a smaller class and I always received supportive feedback!

Her lectures are very long and repetitive. She is very nice but not the class for me. It is very boring 99% of the time.

Literally one of the worst professors I have ever taken. She literally lectures the entire time and doesn't allow the class to discuss anything about the class. She asks you really personal questions and wants to be your "friend" but can't relate to College kids at all and makes everyone feel awkward. Takes points off for no reason.

Dr. Peterson is a pretty relaxed professor who seems to care a lot about her students. Would recommend for Public Speaking 100, but beware of the sustainability focus- caught me off guard. Overall, if you make an effort to do well you should get an A. Fun class, honestly.

Dr. Petersen is truly a gem. As far as the class goes, I found it hard to articulate what exactly I was learning. Sometimes the flow of the class didn't really make sense, but I liked that she tailored the class to use relevant material. Even though I didn't care for the class, Dr. Petersen is one of the most caring professors I have ever had!

Nice lady, but her only focus in class is to push her own beliefs. Other ideas will not be accepted, and you are not allowed to think for yourself. Do a ton of busy work, show up, and you will get the A.

4 speeches, each gets progressively longer asking questions mandatory self and peer feedback pretty much exactly what i was expecting going into this class. a few reading quizzes, pretty easy tho, just the speeches and if you can give a mediocre speech, its graded mostly on presentation and less on content, you'll do great. can't say I learned much

Professor Petersen is incredibly nice, and she cares about her students. She likes to push her leftist agenda. Professors should be educating and not pushing their political beliefs. She mostly grades on a semester-long research project that will require a 20+ page paper. She's awesome, but if you don't lean left you won't want to participate.

Nice lady but terrible teacher. Spends most of her time pushing her political and environmental agendas. More interested in her own work than students'. Readings are pointless and she does not explain them well. Lots of group work, busy work, and you come out not knowing what you learned.

Public speaking class where you just have to give three speeches. Easy class, didn't care for the prof. She is very politically correct.

Took her night class for public speaking. She made it so fun and interesting. Even though it was a night class she made it interesting. Pretty easy grader. Brings in treats for the class all the time. Take her she rocks!

Dr. Petersen is very passionate about her course topics and it shows. She reinforces important concepts and challenges her students. There is a 20 page semester long paper/presentation due, but it was really enjoyable and we got to learn about all of our classmates projects too which was awesome! COJO 328 is a great course.

Dr. Petersen is a joy! She is so into everything she does. Rhetorical Criticism involved two long group projects which were a little excessive but really integrated class material well. She wants her students to do well and designed the course to give everyone a chance with a variety of assignments. I loved this class and would take Dr. P again!

Dr. Peterson makes public speaking completely painless...no matter what your previous comfort level is. You only have to give 3 formal speeches, 1 impromtu, and 1 introduction all semester. Barely any homework, unless it applies directly to your speech. I would definatley take her again.

The papers are very time consuming, but if you are good at writing four very long papers, this class is for you. Debra is a great prof. She will always be able to help you and give good (but sometimes hard to read) feedback on your papers.

You have to work hard, but she makes it pretty easy. You have to be a dedicated student, but I think it's worth it.
