Comment:

Dr. Haggerty is a great man. He loves biology. He knows it really well, and really loves teaching it. However, his lecture tests are very, very hard (50-100 questions, 5 answer multiple choice questions and some T/F questions mixed in). His lab is also no cake walk, he gives detailed quizzes over last weeks material each week. STUDY. STUDY. STUDY.

The man is extremely understanding and helpful, but his class will be difficult if you are NOT a science major. He packs too much info in one class if you are not use to taking science courses. Making a good grade in lab is easy and will save you... memorize the entire section of the lab book including the pictures and thats the test!

He was a very descriptive teacher. He liked to use analogies often to help explain the abstract material. I found him very entertaining to watch while he described the material. I only recommend him thought if you plan to READ the textbook, STUDY his power points, and attend class. You have to be attentive, but well worth it! It is enjoyable.

Dr. Haggerty is #1!!! Take him for everything you can. His enthusiasm & passion for biology/teaching will keep you motivated. Definitely not an easy A; you have to study your bum off. It's a lot of material & his lecture test can get overwhelming - just study PowerPoints. Lab is fair though. He doesn't try to make it hard. This class was so fun!

Dr. Haggerty is eccentric. His class is entertaining, at any rate. He gives announced quizzes almost every other class. The tests come almost straight from the PowerPoints (which he refuses to post online until he finishes covering them in class), though there are definitely some questions from out of nowhere. Not extremely difficult or easy.

Dr. Haggerty is tough but fair. He will make you earn your grade, but the class is totally worth it. He is not insensitive as people are making him out to be. I would take him again in a heartbeat. I learned a lot in his class, and the information is easy to remember. Tests are the powerpoints. Its not hard with a little effort.

Nice guy funny a little effective lectures and helps you visualize what he is explain. exams are HARD. the way he words is seems like he want you to fail. I would take a different instructor I do not see myself taking him in the future.

I currently have Dr. H for bio 102 and lab for the July term. He is a wonderful teacher in lecture, but lab is horrible. The lab quizzes are more difficult than the lecture tests. I think bc it is summer, he doesn't think we have anything else to do so he is loading it on thick in lab.

He is a good teacher and very helpful but I think he tends to make things more difficult than they need to be. His tests are hard but they come straight from the power point so as long as you put in the effort to really study you should do fine. I really hated the labs. overall a good teacher, be prepared to put a good amount of effort in the class

Haggerty is great. Weekly quizzes that add points to your test, he scales his tests, he posts his power points online for you, he is VERY enthusiastic and quite entertaining. I never even opened my book and got an A studying his slides. Lab isn't hard either, but lab quizzes every week. I take Haggerty for any class I can. I recommend!

Haggerty is by far the best bio professor at UNA. Extremely helpful, crystal clear, and very passionate about what he does. He is really smart and does the best bird calls I've ever heard. Wish he taught more of my required courses.

Lecture is fairly easy (when you study), but labs are harder. Natural History was difficult, but looking back, I'd say it was probably my favorite class and he is definitely my favorite professor at UNA. You can tell he really loves what he does.

I loved Natural History of Vertebrates, the lab was EXTREMElY hard but fun because of collecting all the animals.
