Great professor, definitely someone you should take as a political science student. You learn a ton about South Asia, and the class is generally not too hard. Lecture slides are posted online which is a plus, but attendance is noted for a participation grade. Essay prompts for tests are given ahead of time. Hanson's also a great person too.

She was fantastic; she taught the info in a direct manner. Personally, I really liked the material; I showed my interest, and she liked me. There are many readings; even I found some very long. She also has interesting guest lectures. Exams are essay format & she gives the Qs ahead of time. 1 Paper; choose a topic you like. Class will be a breeze.

Super nice. As long as you seem interested she's really happy. Didn't do any of the readings ever, exams were essay format and she gave the questions ahead of time

By far one of the best professors I've ever had. She was very interesting, funny, and helpful. I really enjoyed her class immensely, plus there were a lot of opportunities for extra credit outside of the classroom.

This class should be renamed introduction to the terms of international relations. Betty doesn't actually do much in the way of teaching but its an easy A if you are good with vocab and don't care about actually learning. If you intend to use this class as a pre-rec take it with someone else: this woman hasn't "taught" for years.

Very nice professor. Loves her subject and is intelligent. Lectures were early, and I didn't attend most of them. But attended discussions, and did very well. Overall, and easy enjoyable class.

She is nice; she provides lecture outlines, and uploads the powerpoint as long as everyone attends class. Discussion is very important because you discuss everything from lecture; especially useful if you didn't buy the book. The 2 tests aren't that difficult as long as you've payed attention. Don't buy nytimes, they are free in the chem. building.

She is a really nice lady and it is obvious that she wants her students to succeed. The tests will be easy if you go to the lectures and pay attention. Sometimes it can get a little boring, especially if you are tired, but it isn't that bad. She should get an award for the nicest professor ever!

She tries to make the class interesting with movie and sound clips and really cares about her students. She is very helpful in that she writes outlines for her lectures, which if you can memorize will guarantee a good grade. Discussion is much better than lecture.

Dr. Hanson holds an interesting class at times and a boring class at others (Lectures boring, Discussion great). Exams not that difficult. Basically, if you can think, you'll do fine in Hanson's class.

Pretty easy course since she puts elctures online and her exams come straight from the lecture notes. The only part that sucks is having to write 2 journal entries a week for discussion class.

she posts the outlines for each lecture on webct before class. once you have that, theres really nothing else you can get from the lecture. falling asleep in class is not so hard. she is as lively as she can be for a tiny woman of older age. but she knows her stuff and loves to teach.

Amazing teacher, very clear and detailed lectures. Also, she puts her powerpoints online in case you miss a class and have that material to study for the midterm. Very easy midterm and nice TAs. Wonderful class to be in and great introduction to poli sci.
