She was a pretty okay professor. This class had a lot of reading but I also skipped a lot. We never really had a midterm or final it was more reading and taking quizzes and some projects. Our final was to create our own religion. The class can be boring at times but most of learning about different religions was interesting.

I was really excited to take this class. The information and topics were interesting, but the teacher was horrible. Very rude, didn't interact with students at all (like weekly check in's), besides replying to discussion board posts. The teacher ruined the class for me.

I never really showed up to class or discussion section and managed to get a B+. The only thing is it may be important to read the one book that is assigned but it's a good read anyway. Grade also depends on discussion TA heavily.

The exams are very easy, but lectures are a mess and seem like she does not have a set lesson plan ever. Not much in the lectures are useful and there is a lot of reading that is assigned.

This class was pretty scattered and lectures were all over the place. However, it is very important to attend discussion and the exams are pretty easy!

horrible lectures, very disorganized and off topic, and she is arrogant and rude to students. There is a lot of reading and work for such a low level course but still very easy. Do not take anthropology with her try to get another professor.

She is very passionate about her work but she talks about things that are not relevant. Everything is online and going to lectures is boring sometimes but studying is pretty easy.

This class has an unnecessary amount of readings that are long and time consuming. The lectures are unorganized and boring but she will mention one or two things that you will need to know.

She is a horrible professor. Rambles on in lectures, most of the times not relevant to the class topic. She also thinks very highly of herself and that bothers a lot. Discussions were the only thing saving my grade. Quizzes are very specific, exams are a little easier.

Comment:
Professor Linnekin assigns a ridiculous amount of reading. During the lectures she rambles and nothing she says is important. For each topic covered she says the same things every class. There are other professors to take, if you can avoid her at all costs. Also she thinks so highly of herself and constantly brags about how she's a professor.

Comment:
Prof Linnekin is undoubtly a brilliant Anthropologist, but she is not an effective professor. Her lectures are disorganized and ineffective and she fails to fully explain assignments before we are to carry them out. The most frustrating part of her teaching is that she feels very annoyed by students questions.

Goes off on tangents a lot. Super easy class and easy material. Easy A. I attended class, but I probably could've skipped and still done fine. She puts all the material and powerpoints onto HuskyCT.

She is a very quirky and funny woman, but can be very off-task. Most of the material will be covered in discussion.

No need to go to the lectures. Everything is online that you need and follow the syllabus. Sometimes the readings are a lot, but can go along with the slides she posts. Discussion is important to attend, just do the work and pay attention. Skim read.

I'm in the class right now and didn't write a single note all lecture. There are 4 quizzes and a midterm and final that count for the majority of the grade. Participation in discussion counts as 20 percent. There is no point of going to lecture, she spends the whole time off topic and puts everything online.

Linnekin is easily one of my favorite anth professors at UConn. She really knows her stuff and has a lot of interesting things to say especially in this class (peoples of the pacific islands), considering it's her life's work. That being said, you MUST go to class in order to pass and you MUST take notes on what she says in class (no power points).

She is crazy and just rants about random stuff in class. Lecture is pointless because of this. I would not recommend her to anyone. Discussions are mandatory to pass this class though and involve a lot of reading.

This class is really easy but the professor is quite weird. In the lecture she just rambles about random things and asks the class a lot of questions that are not relevant. The lecture is the only important part and there are quizzes every few weeks that are based off of readings that are manageable. Don't stress though, you get credit for ur name.
