I'm going to be honest. If you want to learn, do NOT take her class. But if you want to get an easy A, she'll give you an automatic A for enrolling in her class. She's a great GPA booster, but if you're in college to prepare for a future career or to learn then it is best to take another professor.

As a parent I have never had a more understanding professor when it came to me being a mother and not being able to afford every textbook under the son. Yes, she assigns a lot of reading but most of it is free online. Only once was I confused during her class (she misrepresented the Lady of Shalott a favorite of mine) other then that she was great!

Feroza is a great person but a poor professor. We were required to read 9 books and write papers on a majority of them. Each lecture, although not a postcolonial course, was heavily based on post colonialism. A lot of time is spent on trying to figure out where the lecture is going. It was all about "the bad white man." Unprofessional and offensive

Absolutely love Feroza! Her expectations are high, but she provides all tools necessary to succeed. I will take as many classes with her as possible before I graduate and hopefully during my MA program. You don't want to miss out on her class! Class is designed for students to succeed-but also ensures the greatest amount of learning as possible

Feroza is a really sweet lady. She wants her students to come up with their own unique ideas about the readings which makes her teaching style that much better. The class consisted of two short papers and one longer research paper. As long as you write well and come up with your own perspective you will be fine. She also gives extra credit

Wow, what an impressive professor, she seems to have such a wealth of knowledge that you feel like she's barely scratching the surface when she lectures. I felt as though each lecture could have been twice as long, we were always interrupted by the time running out. She's always flushes out your thoughts and makes them better.

She is perhaps the most brilliant woman I have ever worked with. She is not concerned with grades and students can take as much or as little as they want from this class. I owe not only my knowledge of postcolonial theory but much of my skills in literary analysis to the fact that I crossed paths with her. Beautiful person, beautiful mind.

As mentioned before, Jussawalla's concept of time is very fluid. Assignments are unclear as well. However, if you turn in a paper, any paper, I feel like you could get an A in this class; I did.

Comment:
While I understand that Jussawalla's very fluid version of time can be frustrating, this is an upper divisional class. Post Colonialism, Modernism, Magic Realism are all concepts covered and I think she might be the best professor I have had my entire Collegial Career. Read the books. Read the articles she mentions.

She is a nice and intelligent person but failed to show up to class on time the majority of the semester. If you value structure, use of rubrics, and clarity of assignments I would NOT recommended you take this class. But as long as you do the essays participate in peer reviewing, and attend class regularly, you should receive and easy A.

Wonderful teacher and human being. Cares for her students. Not the easiest to understand, she lectures with an interrogatory inflection. Very postmodern, pro-feminist, pro-minority, yet she doesn't mind if you have a different background. Very encouraging and supportive, as long as you do the reading and think critically. Very open-minded.

She will ask you questions and think you'll know the answer, or she'll say a blirb about something in the beginning of class and ask you at the end of class what you thought of it. Easy, easy A. Like someone else commented on her here -write the paper get an A (you don't even have to read it!)

A wonderful professor- the best I've had thus far at UNM. If you have difficulty thinking beyond cliff notes, perhaps it's not the class for you. Otherwise, she'll help classic texts come alive and tie them to past and present in unexpected ways.

The best professor of my college career. Unorthodox methods of teaching include changing the calendar because of a great class discussion, eating excellent Indian food at her house, etc. She will make you dig deep inside yourself and learn more about your personal ignorance. She cares about thought and ideas, not grade letters. Changed my life.

These other posts are awful and inaccurate!!!! Feroza is an amazing professor; she is one of the smartest women I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her methods are not typical but that is one of the things I like best about her. I am thankful for her because god knows nobody else is going to teach Poco theory at somewhere like UNM

Stay away from her classes. Yes, they're easy, but if you want to learn anything, this is not the way to go. She is unstable, unclear, and innapropriate with her students.
