She CANNOT TEACH TO SAVE HER LIFE. She obv knows the material but can't teach it. She expects you to be a geologist practically dont recommend!

Her lectures were useful and she did a very good job of explaining the actual chemistry behind the material. She also gives out in class group activities and homeworks that were very helpful for studying for the test. Group project is also pretty neat! Her office hours are a must if you are lost - She is super helpful outside of class.

Says things like "the exams will be primarily conceptual questions," then proceeds to ask about the most nitpicky and seemingly unimportant things. Sets vague expectations. Organization is terrible. Study guides are nonexistent. I took this class as an elective and it ate up way too much of my time because I had no idea what to study.

Avoid her if you can. ASU has some wonderful, talented professors and she is not one of them. Irrelevant homework which is not covered in class. Vague exam questions which are later interpreted by TA however she sees fit. A really bad experience. Had to fight for my grade all the way through course. Course is a 16 wk powerpoint... nothing else.

If you have any way of avoiding her, Do It! She's arrogant, and unclear; you Will fail if you miss days. Average grades on exams are D and it doesn't alarm her. The worst prof I've had at ASU. When TA was confronted for errors she made grading, she agreed when talking to me and later emailed and said she changed her mind.

I took her Oceanography class if you dont study really really hard for her 2 exams you will not pass the class, her exams are the negative to this course, the exams cover a vast amount of slides and topics, she focuses on pictures and in 2 test each test is composed of around 200 slides +, so if you dont prepare a week ahead you will not get an A.

Don't take this course unless required! Hilairy is terrible at lecturing she rambles off on topics that you will never see on an exam. The first exam the class average was a low D which didn't concern her. The homework and quizzes did not pertain to lectures/readings. Powerpoints are hard to understand, better to just read chapters from the book

She is a very vague professor. She claims that she will "curve" exam grades, but that never happened. Ended up being borderline C/D and ended up getting a D. She is no help at all when exams are coming up, the TA is more help than the actual professor. If you don't have to take this course, I would stay away.

She seemed nice at first and the class seemed easy at first until the first exam where she screws the class over. No study guide for the tests so you literally have to study half a semester worth of material. I was hoping to get an A because it's an elective and ended with a C. She doesn't curve her exams which have an avg of a D-

I get her! She can explain in a way that made previously murky material crystal clear, I really appreciated that. She is refreshingly blunt. Oceanography is by nature an interdisciplinary subject, which makes it hard. You will have to study to truly understand the relationship between chemistry, geology and biology in the ocean. I loved this class!

I took one course with her, in which she co-taught with another professor. Thank god the other professor was there. She was intimidating, arrogant, and unhelpful. You might think that it's ASU and all the students are dumb and biased, but she is truly a terrible teacher. I did well in the class, and hated every minute of interaction with her.

Teacher was friendly and helpful but class was very difficult. The homework was a nightmare, the tests were about the same. This was one of the hardest, if not the hardest class I took as an undergraduate. Expect to work very hard outside of class, but teacher and TA will be available to assist. Notes had too many errors which compiled difficulty.

It's just a hard class in general and attendance is a MUST (she takes role every class plus there are like a hundred in-class points). Tests are really specific and hard. BUT she offers a lot of extra credit and curves at the end of the semester, so shes happy to help but good luck.

Atetndance Nazi. You have to go to almost every single class to have a chance at an A. Needless to say her lectures had little relevance to the tests. However she had this TA Doug, who would hold review sessions before tests that were REALLY helpful. She does offer a ton of extra credit, and she is very nice, it's just not an easy A class.

Dr. Hartnett is a horrible teacher... Her lectures are incredibly boring and a waste of time. The homework and tests are ridiculous and cover stuff that's not in her lectures or the book.
