great guys knows his stuff. you only take 3 tests and the final for this class so never any HW. he gives study guides that have all of the test questions in them just go over the study guide and your golden.

He does not require any in class assignments, homework or score attendance; which can be unfortunate if you do not do well on the tests. He does, however, assign many readings from the textbook - make sure to study these. His passion for science and space is evident in his vast knowledge on the many subjects. Almost every lecture changed my world.

Comment:

Genuine and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot in his class. He's also pretty funny; I wish he was my grandpa, honestly. Knows some cool people (/cough/Bill Nye/cough/). You NEED to pay attention in class and read the textbook to do well on the exams. Trust me. I didn't read, and I suffered. Study and you'll do well.

Comment:

Professor Knauth changed my view on geology (in a good way) and I learned a lot. He is genuine and has an abundance of wisdom to share if you are willing to listen. I took this class for my science credit. This class is not easy, but it is worth all of your time! I will miss having this class this semester with Professor Knauth. Highly recommend.

This man is awesome! Very intelligent and passionate. Reading the textbook and going to lecture is a guaranteed A. He is very clear and does his best to make students understand. For a science requirement I highly suggest!

His stories are really funny. This guy is a natural teacher, just show up to class and you will learn. If you need an elective, take his Astrobiology class you will not regret it.

This guy gives ASU a bad name. Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. Lecture was painful to sit through it was that boring. His exams are ment to confuse the students which he will openly admit to. The man is arrogant, and makes you feel really horrible about yourslef when you go for help. Do yourself a favor and do not take him!!

Dr. Knauth's story-telling teaching style is extremely effective. He truly held my interest in every lecture, and sometimes I wished the lectures were longer than 50 minutes! His exams are pretty hard, but if you thoroughly go over his study guides there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A in his class.

The thing i really enjoyed about his class is he understands that it is full of students who are just there for the credits, and makes the lectures simple and the tests easy. If you go to class and take notes you really don't even need to read either, which is always nice.

He's a pretty good lecturer, but he gives tests that are pretty hard. He also gives a really nice curve though, so you should pass the class if you put minimal effort in the class. I did say pass, not A

Comment:

Knauth really enjoys geology and it shows in his lectures. He tends to move slowly, sometimes too much so, so that all the students understand. If you have even a passing interent in geology, the course will be interesting and engaging. He also helped me on a project for another course just because it had some GLG background research, very cool.
