Dr. Leve is a very textbook teacher, he puts a lot of information into his lectures and into his power points. His instructions on his assignments are often very vague and he doesn't really respond very fast to emails. Most tests are open book however they're still very difficult and they require a lot of outside work to get a good grade.

Comment:

The class is easy. Except the attendance policy only allows for one absence and going to class is a waste of time. Its a music history class and we talked about art so much. Also he does not grade your essays- a student grades them. He will lecture you if you get bad grades on his exams, and you dont go over any required pieces for the test.

Leve teaches for those who are music or fine art majors. Even though other students besides those major takes his course. He likes to beat around the bush and undermine you as well in class and homework.

Comment:

Dr. Leve knows the material, and all of it is presented fairly and accurately, but his teaching style and mannerisms made it really difficult for me to enjoy the class. Technology (quizzes and slides) was always messy, and he was impossible to reach outside class. I found his humor to be rather rude, for my taste. He did curve grades significantly.

This guy was really funny, but was extremely unclear on assignment due dates. The syllabus was innacurate. We would have to submit a second journal entry once out first one was graded, and we would have no idea when that was because he didn't know either: his TA did all of the grading. Also, his clicker questions are listening based, crazy hard.

While I agree that assignments can need some clarifying and that the work load is very heavy, Dr. Leve was one of the most inspirational and helpful professors I have had in my college career! Tough grader or not, he is a very reasonable and compassionate professor and has made a great impact on my schooling!

I regret taking this class with a burning passion. I've always had a love for musical theatre and Dr. Leve has completely ruined it. He is unorganized, scatterbrained, and an unfair professor. A lot of busy work and papers that teach you nothing. His grading is unfair and he is overall lazy and rude. Avoid this class.

Dr. Leve is your typical university professor who does not know to teach. Unfortunately, possessing a PhD does not mean that he is organized, helpful, or even cares. His assignments and emails are full of typos and his expectations of his students are unclear not aligned with his effort as a teacher.

This class was very interesting and you could tell that Dr. Leve loved what he was teaching you about. I took this as a winter class so it was a little fast passed. He could have done a little better by being more clear on materials but he was very responsive to emails and any help that you needed. I learn a lot!!

Professor leve was great! He loved what he was talking about and really liked when students participated in class discussions. He grades fairly easy and does clicker questions on the material on a daily basis

I am sure Leve was a great teacher in his hay-day, but has become a bit of a lazy tool in his older age. My main problem was with his TA at the time. She tended to mark my papers down for saying something that she felt she wouldn't have written herself. (Me: "Instrument of the string varitey." Her note: "String instrument"). I hated that class.

Dr. Leve is one of the best professors I've ever had (music history). His tests are pretty difficult, but if you study good they are definitely aceable. He keeps his class interesting and you really learn your stuff!

if you come ready to work, its easy. just do the listenings and readings. i thoroughly enjoyed both classes and did well in both. he practically spells out the answers in class and in the study guide so take notes.

Leve is a great teacher. You must be prepared to spend time outside of his lectures learning the material. The sylabus is very clear, and test's aren't hard if you know a good study website... hint, hint. Check the book. ;)
