Comment:

A lot of assignments without clear expectations. Concepts from EED3000 are used in this class but EED3000 isn't a prerequisite so it got confusing at times. Weekly forum posts, article reviews and quizzes. His Moodle is disorganized. I'd take him again because I found the work easy but I wouldn't recommend him if you get overwhelmed easily.

Comment:

I took this class online and it was AWFUL! His rubrics were never clear and made us download several things onto our own computers, which actually caused a virus in my computer mid semester. He posts samples and they never match the rubrics. I spend at least 15 hours a week on his class and projects range from 5-10 points only.

I have never received anything lower than a 3.8 in my classes until RDG 510. I had the flu/ in the hospital and he still wouldn't accept a late project which was huge portion of my grade. He grades extremely hard and the quizzes are very challenging. I have to retake the class since my grade was not high enough for my masters degree.

Comment:

I have had several professors in my educational career (graduate +) and never have I had a professor as horrible as McEneaney. Extremely heavy workload, unwilling to accept any late work--even an hour or two late, timed tests and quizzes that were impossible to answer correctly. Take the class with someone else if you can!

This class teaches you MANY MANY different technologies that can be incorporated into real life classrooms. I enjoyed this class and thought he graded super easy when it came to the homework. I spent about 60-90 minutes a week on the weekly homework, which isnt bad considering the class is only once a week.

I like Prof M. However, IST 397 is misplaced by being pre-program. IST has us working on lesson plansunits, but we have never studied that. Is this a technology course, or lesson planning? If it was later in the program, and had a few more open-ended technology assignments, I would have loved it. But lesson planning wo more instruction hurts us.

Run away! Do not take this man, he is awful. He grades extremely tough and his answers are the only correct ones. If you dont write what he agrees with, you are wrong! His exams and quizzes do nothing to support your learning . I have had all good grades my college career and now my GPA has dropped. Be ready to retake the course.

RUN!!!!!! Terrible and rude professor. I was an all A student this class is murdering my GPA because he is so rude and harsh. Seriously he is terrible. Find another professor.

Took his online class, and I don't recommend it. While I did well in the class, the work load was almost impossibly difficult, with 8-12 hours of work every week just for his class. The information is valuable and he is very intelligent, but the workload made my semester extremely difficult.

I have to say, out of the 4 years I have been in college, I have never had a professor that was unfair as he was. He is extremely judgmental, if you say something that does not make sense to HIM, he will keep that in mind and everything you do is not good enough. He is extremely unfair with his grading and has WAY too much work.

If you do your work you will do well in the class, thats all there is to it. I think that it was easy and don't be scared by the previous posts I just don't think they wanted to work. The course load was light, in comparison with other methods courses.

Call him Doctor, he loves it! Prof.Mc doesn't practice what he preaches. His class and lessons are truly explicit & test strategies are unfair. There are no creative projects or assignments in this class to really demonstrate your knowledge & skills. Assignments are the same every week. All tests are mult.choice, you must answer w/HIS BEST ANSWER.

Comment:

Excellent teacher! He is the coordinator of the Reading and Language Arts PhD program, so be prepared to do some work, but worth it. I have a much more solid base for reading methods, and have learned a great deal about how to scaffold student learning. Material can be abstract, he is looking for you to construct your own knowledge, remember that.

Awesome professor. If you actually want to learn something new, take this prof. It is the only class I've taken in my 4 years of college where I feel like I've learned something. I would take him for every class if I could. GREAT GREAT teacher!!
