Dr. White is a great professor. To get the most out of his lectures, you really do need to read. His grading isn't terribly difficult, but you do have put in the effort before exams to get a solid understanding of what's going on. He is enthusiastic, and accessible out of class. Also, his humor is pretty subtle and dry. He really is quite clever.

Dr. White's classes are difficult. The content itself is not easy, but Dr. White makes it unnecessarily hard to understand. His class consists of 50 minutes of rambling. He does tell the occasional funny joke, but he also likes to make fun of students and not answer their questions. If you enjoy being talked at instead of taught, you will like him

Excellent class excellent teacher. Prepare for class!! This is college for crying out loud! Come prepared and you will enjoy the class. People who don't prepare complain that he makes them feel stupid. Well, earth to mars, if you don't prepare, you will look stupid when you talk in class.

Just had to add that some people's 'complaints' here are that you can't take notes, so you 'flunk the tests.' Um, this is college not grade school. If you don't read anything and expect a prof to spoon-feed you... then, of course, you won't like his classes because they actually demand that you read the texts, and lectures elaborate on them.

I think you get as much out of his classes as you put into them. I've had him for 3 classes. To be honest, if you're good at philosophy or at least read and write clearly, you'll enjoy Dr. White. Dry, intelligent humor. If you're not up for this, don't take him. I personally rank his classes as some of the BEST I had at CUA!

Fantastic course, fantastic professor. Assigns readings, then expounds in class. Most classes will be re-reading short sections, then White re-stating them for better understanding and/or providing examples, and lots of Q&A. Perhaps the best method of teaching Aristotle... This class changed my life, and my outlook on life. HIGHLY recommended.

I can't believe I nearly skipped this class because of people's ratings on Dr. White! The class is fantastic, and I am definitely a Dr. White groupie for life. Don't miss any chances to take his class. I definitely plan on registering for any of his class I can possibly fit in my schedule.

I don't think he did weird things in class THAT often. He has a good sense of humor. The exams were hard, but I enjoyed the paper. The lecture is really boring. I think he should make it more clear in class what we need to know from the extensive material. We studied Plato and Aquinas a lot-blah!
