Comment:
Do not take Donahue if you are not prepared to work. Most C+E professors assigned four papers throughout the semester, but Donahue had lecture reviews, frequent journaling, and vocab quizzes. He is extremely harsh with grading and has high expectations. I read these reviews and thought he would be fine. He caused me more stress than I anticipated.

By far the toughest class and professor I have ever had. Over loaded us with course work when this class was just a distribution. Even when the coronavirus impacted our class and we moved online, our classes continued being incredibly difficult and he kept us longer than the allotted time. I do not recommend,

A happy and friendly man, it shows in his teaching. The course requires a lot of books, with SPECIFIC versions/translations. A lot of reading, but the assignments are fair. However, he is nitpicky when editing. Your grade won't lessen, but your paper will be marked and he expects you to learn from it and change for the next assignment.

Prof. Donahue is extremely knowledgeable don't get me wrong, (the man is a walking dictionary in multiple languages) but his class is often very dry and uninteresting . Despite being an Associate Dean, he struggles to effectively engage his students in class to inspire meaningful discussion (also he laughs at his own puns too often).

Donahue is a great guy. He's an engaging professor, and he wants everybody to do well in his class. Take his advice on essays - he's an intellectual, and he'll greatly improve your writing. If you don't do well, don't worry: he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. Out of class, he's a great guy as well. Highly recommended.

Donahue is a great person, but not the best professor. He's really tough with grades when it comes to writing essays and is very vague about tests and other assignments. His discussions are hard to follow as well. You will need to put a lot of work into his class. While he's a great person outside of the classroom, I don't recommend him for HUHC.

Professor Donahue is really hard. You have to do the reading and he grades really hard on essays. Visit his office hours and he will help you with every aspect of your writing. My writing was really improved after his class. His quizzes and exams are hard but easy to prepare for, just be prepared to write a lot. He offers extra credit vocab tests.

not a bad professor, but not the best either. he's a nice enough guy, makes stupid jokes and laughs at them, discussions are okay and kind of fun. overall he's pretty uninteresting, and he grades papers a little strangely (bothered by weird or really specific things, etc), but doesn't give a ton of work.

His class is a lot like a boring English class you have to take in high school. He talks in circles to try to get around actually explaining what he means. He's not terribly hard, just boring and somewhat unclear. He's a nice guy though and he always laughs at his own jokes. If you just figure out what he wants, you'll do fine.

Donahue speaks like a dictionary, and he's obsessed with vocabulary. His assignments are unclear and laborious. I regret having him for HUHC. There are much better professors to choose from.

He spent a large amount of time explaining his view on something tangential to the actual topic of the paper to come, and then wrapped the paper notification up with a statement promoting originality. Myself and multiple people in our section were original and he told us we had poor thesis's and wrote papers that were too tangential. Overall poor.

Great guy....is the perfect movie professor. As long as you do your work and laugh at his jokes, he loves you. He also has interesting analogies. He doesn't allow laziness in writing and keeps a strict grading policy but he is awesome! I loved his class and his personality. He pushes you and makes you think.

Very nice guy who cares about the students. Always good for a laugh and enjoys students who laugh back. He has a huge vocabulary and uses it constantly, so some find it hard to understand him. Papers are very difficult, and he is especially hard on passive voice, but he will improve your writing. Just go with the classes, don't fight it.

Donahue is a good guy, with good intentions, but he is not a good professor. His lectures are mind boggling, very difficult to follow... It's hard to take notes in his class because he just writes random words on the board. Plus, his HUHC classes seem to attract a lot of suckups, which is frustrating to sit through. I dont recommend him for C&E

absurd grader, acts like passive voice is a travesty, marks as many things incorrect as he can. Calls every thesis weak or nonexistent. Tries to find one good thing in his paper to mention after he tears everything else up just to avoid seeming like an ****. In general, gives a B- every time. Loves to talk in his "high diction" and use big word

He's a nice guy. Does give a decent amount of work but its all from the text book. Teaching style can be a little boring at times but tollerable. Tests are hard but lets you do corrections for better grades. Gives easy quizes to boost your grade. Was never in office hrs because he spends all his time in the honors college. But overall I'd say hesok

This professor seems nice at first but then you get graded. Lots of C's. He is a nice enough guy but grades unclearly, he does not make it obvious what he wants in papers. You have to meet with him, and I did and developed my entire paper with him onnly to get a c, avoid him if you can.
