Comment:

She had all of the templates locked and didn't send them to us until the day an assignment is due. She then got mad at the students for not understanding the assignment when she didn't give any clear instructions on completing them. She also blamed us students for her own mistakes. The assignments are easy, but she was difficult to deal with.

Comment:

Dr. Byrd has her own way of teaching that's forsure. I was a part of her online class which ended up having a lot of issues and left students confused. She is as clear as she can be but when you ask questions, she's not helpful and can be very rude. If you have the option to take this class with another instructor, I would highly recommend it.

Byrd's assignments were super easy but it was hard to keep up with what she wanted you to do. Her directions often changed and were never similar to the syllabus. She was quite rude at times, but I have heard that other classes had it worse. If you're willing to show up everyday, you will easily pass her class.

Dr. Byrd 's way of teaching revolves around her experiences and opinion on different topics which can upset students depending on their perspective. If you want to get an A in this class you should be showing up to class almost ever single day because many times she forgets what the syllabus says and makes adjustments along the way.

Dr. Byrd was one the worst teachers I've ever taken. She feels it's necessary to implement her PhD into every discussion and makes you feel belittled when asking a question. She's short and rude with her responses and quite frankly isn't accommodating to students needs. She's unprepared almost every class and doesn't know whats due when. DONT TAKE

When I first took her class she was very intimidating during the first two weeks but after I went to offices hours and talk to her about how she wanted it format her class became really easy. In addition to that I feel that I learn a lot life lesson from her she wont get from other professors. I m looking forward to taking her Comm 110F class

DO NOT EVER TAKE HER CLASS. Horrible teacher, with horrible morals. She is not someone who is talkative and is quite frankly rude in emails (when she responds) and in class. She constantly stops students when giving speeches or during lecture. She will also throw the attendance in your face if you do not show up, SJSU has no policy about attendance

Stay away from Dr. Byrd. She yells at you in front of the class after you performed your speech to ask you why you blew it. She has no grading rubric for your grade. If you go over the time limit, 0 points, if you read, 0 points, if your outline is wrong, 0. Your grade is based on how much she liked your speech. She gives unclear instructions.

She's all over the place, but class was always fun. She talks a lot about racial issues, which can be uncomfortable sometimes. smart and knows her stuff. love her passion for Comm Studies. If you actually do the work and follow her exact instructions, its an easy A. keep track of your assignments, she looses things easily. but i liked her.

She is a tough teacher, it is college so if you're not looking to be challenged or become better she's not the teacher for you. She really helped me become a better speaker. She gives really good feedback, if you're looking for more feedback speak to her after class/ office hours and she will give you DIRECT feedback, so don't take it personal.

Incredibly unclear grading rubric. She forgets what she is supposed to do and her go to answer is "Read the rubric." She tries to be helpful, but really isn't. I never want to take another course by Dr. Byrd again.

She seems to be really passionate about what she teaches but she doesn't seem to know how to teach it. She was really disorganized. If you want an easy boost to your GPA, take her class. If you really want to learn something, I don't advise it. She's really picky about outlines so be sure to do those correctly.

Comment:

Dr. Byrd is a very nice lady, but very unclear in her teaching. She changes assignments frequently and changes due dates often. During speeches, she would frequently interrupt students to tell them to speak louder or to not speak to the powerpoint, which I thought was very unprofessional.

She was nice and compassionate. But I can't help but think she is lazy. We didn't even have a final. She told us not to tell anyone. There were no exams just pointless papers. I didn't learn anything from the class. She is a nice person, but I am not sure if she is in the right profession.

This class was interest because we would have open discussions about the material, and never felt judged. This class is easy, just kind of a lot of work because she makes you work for all 4 units. I recommend this class and you can use the previous version of the book (which is WAY CHEAPER)

Her class is like life: you get out of it what you put into it. Attendance is important for assignment instructions, plus the class participation is the fun part. I really like Dr. Byrd, and would recommend her classes. I had her for interpersonal and multicultural comm. She is wonderful!

Comment:

She is a very nice person but talks a lot. She's not very organized. The first few weeks there was a lot of confusion about assignments and which chapters to read from the textbook. She was constantly changing when homework assignments were due but the assignments were easy. Easy A but you don't learn a lot from the class.
