Taking Prof Vellon online is probably the best decision Ive ever made. He makes time fly while learning and is super funny. 10/10 would take again

Really nice guy. I believe 12 quizzes but we were only graded on 10. Sometimes he even allowed us to not take any quiz for the week. Lectures were good, funny guy.

Consider yourself BLESSED if you have this professor! He is very caring, flexible, engaging in lectures and funny! Open book quizzes every week based on textbook readings. 2 papers, midterm & final exam. Before and after COVID-19 he was amazing. He really understands the struggle of being a student and will help you as much as he can. God bless!!!!

Vellon is a solid choice for history. Hes very approachable and open to our complicated history in the US. He keeps his atmosphere calm and open to ideas and debates. His group projects are simple and he offers feedback, you have to do two of those. His final and midterm are basic just read the textbook and take notes from presentations!

This was like a 70 person class and halfway through we had to go online because of Covid, but Prof Vellon took very well. He's prepared, knows his stuff, and is quite funny too. Do yourself a favor and participate. It will make him remember you. There are weekly open-book quizzes, two papers, nothing too hard if you already know US history somewhat

in hindsight, he was a really cool professor and the only thing i hated about the class was the time. the assignments were never too difficult. I don't usually participate, but i felt comfortable enough to speak in this class (hallelujah), so i would recommend this professor.

He's probably the funniest professor I've had at QC, and the tight-knit colloquium class gives you a front row seat to the comedy show. If you put in the work and talk to him you'll do well. The amount of reading is a little excessive but you only have to get a general idea of it to do well on the reading response. Good teacher and enjoyable class.

He's easily the funniest professor I've had so far in college. Always jokes around with the class to keep us paying attention to what he's saying and assigns textbook readings before each class. All quizzes given are open book, though he is a tough grader when it comes with dbe's. Just stay on top of most of your readings and come to class.

Dr. Vellon was the only good professor that I ever had at CUNY Queens College. He was very loose and fair. He was flexible when it came to grading assignments. He was also open to differing interpretations than that of his own. I wish the rest of the History Department was like him!

He is awesome professor. As long as you show up in class, do your work and come to exams prepared, you will be fine. I took history 104 in spring. The way this professor teaches his subject, it makes you want to learn and be more curious about history. He knows his subject very well.

Vellon is super engaging. Some reviews say he is disrespectful at times but I disagree he just has a funny sense of humor. He makes the topics super simple and gives quizzes every week. but I have passed every single one with B or higher. Also understanding on deadlines and willing to go over assignments.

Prof. Vellon did not give all the quizzes promised. Clear syllabyus. Towards the middle when the guidelines for the optional paper were given, I did the optional paper but Vellon was unclear that we would not be given any compensation for our work. He explained it to be hypothetical after the "grades" were given. I would recommend, be mindful.

I've written 3 reviews that've been deleted, which makes me suspect that he obsessively patrols this page getting negative reviews taken down. Anyways, insipid and inadequate. I get that this is a survey class, but I've had survey courses that aren't just textbook readings before. Replace him with a postgrad, and pay them the rate he's getting.

The class is made up of forty plus students. It's hard to participate when you're shy. I participate very well in my other classes, but this class scares me. Maybe because it was mostly males. He wants in-depth essays. There's a lot of readings. you'll be reading three books at one and write an essay on two other totally different books

Professor Vellon is hard to relate to at first, but then you get his style and learn a lot from him. He uses a lot of humor. There are a lot of readings and a quiz each week.

Horrible. He is the most unprofessional professor that I have ever had. Does not cover the material that is brought on the test. He is misleading about the quizzes, he says its multiple choice but gives open ended responses and asks very specific questions based on the readings that has nothing to do with the main topic of the chapter.

How do you improve on perfection? I thought Prof. Peter Vellon was wonderful when I took his Hist-299, the Vietnam War and America, but he is even more fantastic in the small seminar setting of a Colloquium. Every class was a pleasure to attend. Students required to do a presentation on a topic of the sylabus, which turned out to be fun..

Professor Vellon makes it seem like he is laid back, and says he does not care about attendance. However missing his weekly quizzes will definitely bring down your grades and he is not accommodating about makeups. His tests are hard, and there is a ton of reading. Interesting to listen to, but way too difficult for a history 104 class.
