Comment:
A lot of tedious and non-essential reading and homework assignments. These assignments are so long that it's often hard to see what's important come test time. Her midterm is tough (the average is an 80). You'll find yourself in the B range for sure. Not an easy "sociology class"

Generally very easy class, she does not take attendance but you are required to sign homework assignments before turning them in. Exams are not too bad, although some studying is required. Nearly daily homework assignments, but they are very easy and take little time. Overall simple course, would recommend.

You will like this class if you found Sociology or the subject matter interesting. I can imagine it being boring for those who don't like the subject. The reading assignments are long and time consuming, but straight from the book. So very easy. She tells exactly what's on the test before so if you study you should do well.

DO NOT TAKE SOCIOLOGY OF THE FAMILY. It is the most boring, useless class you could ever take. All of the tests come from her lecture and the reading questions she assigns. It is hard to deduce what is important from her lecture, and random stuff shows up on the test. NOT an easy A, and I have a 3.9 gpa. Her class is a horrible experience. AVOID!!

Great teacher and interesting course. Have to put in time with the reading assignments, but in your best interest to do them well as the tests from the test pretty much come straight from the readings. Class isn't mandatory, but she gives a lot of good lecture material where other tests questions come from. If you go to class and do the homework, A

Her Sociology of the Family class is an easy A. As long as you keep up with the readings, hand in your answers to her questions on the readings (can be taken straight from the book), then there are just 2-3 tests and an internet fact sheet (easy research), and a final exam. No midterm. Must come to class to turn in readings, but you can sneak in

Although I didn't like the lecture style of the class, Professor. Carr is incredibly knowledgable about her subject matter and cares about her students. The readings she gave were interesting, but often very long.

Class can be boring sometimes, but is necessary because test material can come from homework questions, text readings, or class discussion. Homework can take a while, but you do get to skip 6 assignments. Tests cover a wide material of info, but the class is definitely manageable.

Dr. Carr seems like a very nice woman, but overall her lectures are bland, boring, and not very engaging. It is difficult to pick out what's important from what she says. The readings are interesting, however. The homework takes a longer time to do than expected and is very tedious work. I do not recommend this class.

Dr. Carr is an amazing professor! She clearly knows what she is teaching and understands how to present that in a clear way to students. All you have to do is go to class and pay attention. She's such a sweet person and really wants her students to succeed. I would recommend anyone to take this class!

Sociology of the Family ~ Loves the material, great teacher. Go to class and take good notes and you'll do fine. Be there for the review before the test and study. Tests are multiple choice. Interesting class if you enjoy the material.

Sociology of the Family. She is very nice, but I don't really find the class that interesting, mostly common sense sort of stuff... The class is easy, there are a lot of homework assignments, but they aren't hard, just take a bit of time... Some people love the class, so take it if you're interested in the subject matter... she's not bad...

She is a really sweet professor! Class is not mandatory, but it's a really interesting topic and she really loves it so it's fun to go to. Tests are relatively easy, don't forget to do the reading questions for homework - that'll bump your grade up. And the paper is really easy - easy A on that. Great class, overall. Prof Carr is really nice.

Constant homework of copying text straight from the book is easy but tedious and a waste of paper/resources. Difficult to extract the important info from the droning lectures. Class doesn't prepare you for the tests that call for specific numbers/percentages. She charges a quarter for scantron sheets which is unbelievable.

Lectures are usually very boring. Must go to at least 20 classes to hand in 20 required homework assignments (which are extremely annoying - one due usually every 3 days). Tests are much harder than expected. Tons of trivial percentages and statistics. Must put in A LOT of studying to get an A.

Very nice professor, gives very clear lectures. Sometimes the lectures are boring but I think this is because everyone feels like they already know all there is to know about family so it feels like a repeat. You do need to study for the tests but as long as you do that and do the other work you should get an A or B in the class.

To do well on the test, you must study, but she gives you a very clear idea of what will be on the test. As long as you put in the effort you will get an A.

Comment:
She is so boring. Very easy to get lost in her lectures. Her class is very redundant to what you read in the book. People only go to class when homework is due and most of them sleep or do other homework anyways. Try and find another Sociology of the Family professor.
