This is a late review, I took this class in 2007. I have worked for many large well known firms and now own my engineering company. Out of all the professors and courses I took I still use knowledge and programs from this course. It was difficult to appreciate his teaching style at the time, but I sure do now.

Worst lecturer ever. Course seems hard because he's so bad at teaching. Just get your excel sheets in order that he provides and get ready for your free A. Skip the lectures or don't take notes at the very least.

Absolutely useless professor, doesn't teach you a single thing. All of the learning happens during tutorials. This guy made me lose a lot of interest in civil engineering. UBC clearly does not listen to its students by keeping such a useless prof on its payroll despite all of the negative reviews he gets. They should just make the TA the prof.

A lazy lecturer who is only interested in sharing gems of "wisdom" that are actually poorly disguised notes of self glorification. I guess when you're as bad as Sigi at what you're paid to do, self glorification is necessary. Avoid this guy at all costs!

Sigi is useless. I mean USELESS.The TAs are more knowledgeable. To all the student: if you have a class with him, you are pretty much paying $400 to learn all the materials by yourselves (aka, you are paying money to fill in with a possibility to fail the exam). Overall rating 0/10 (I would go lower, but I felt pretty bad to give him negative).

Simply put, Sigi is the worst professor I have ever had. I rocked Dr. adebar's 230 with a final mark of 98% yet I find myself lost in Sigi's class. He is very lazy, always wants to go off topic instead of teaching. Ventures into material unrelated to the course, which would be fine if he made sure the relevant material was adequately taught first.
