Comment:

One of the easiest classes I've taken. You just spend the semester reading short stories and then discussing in class. Then you write 3 or 4 essays during the semester about general themes from the textbook short stories. The final is an essay too. You have to show up to class though because she takes points off if you don't come. EASY A

Comment:

I loved her class, it was very engaging and discussion-based. Don't know what the people below are complaining about, she wasn't the least bit unreasonable. All you have to do is do the assigned readings (There's never that much), show up to class, and participate. Easy A. She's pretty funny too if you get her humor; our whole class loved her.

Best english class at smc in my opinion. She honestly leaves it up to you whether you want to do well in class or not. i highly recommend this class! just do the essays and tests and you'll do great!

Prof Goode should not be a college professor. She has many unnecessary rules, 10 points off for every missed class, 50 points off for using your phone, no eating in class, has a seating chart, dont get up during class. She is gets angry over simple things. Her opinion dictates what you read. She cant stand Poe. I got an A without trying.

Get the books as soon as possible because you need them for in class discussions. Attend class or she'll start dropping your grade after 3 tardies or absences. Lots of writing, our entire grade is based on essays. Do not forget about the final, it will make or break your grade.

Highly recommend this class. Its probably the easiest, most straightforward English 2 class. You walk in, you do a quick write on the reading from the night before, and for the rest of class you just go over the readings. She does pick on people randomly so it's important you're listening because she will put you on blast. Just do the reading!

You cannot be excused from the classroom without her speaking to you like a child. Less lecturing, more group discussions and unnecessarily printing out 4 extra copies of your California themed essays for the required peer edits. journal prompts and you will popcorn read last nights reading assignment in class just like Junior High School.

She's a great professor if you put the work into the class. She's extremely receptive to effort. Like most professors, she expects you to be there and stay the whole class. Overall I think she is a wonderful person with great literature suggestions and I'd definitely recommend her English 2 class.

Comment:

She was not a very clear teacher, but she was very clear about what she wanted. The poetry reading was a little unnecessary, but it was fun. Her class is not hard by any means, but you need to be on top of your stuff for the A. I managed to squeeze by with an A.

I had previously taken her Eng 1 class. Eng 2 was easier because you have a few shorter essays, an in class midterm and in class final. You also have to attend a poetry reading. Not sure why I got a B but I still think she's easier than other Eng professors. Her comments on essays may be unclear but she's willing to answer questions during off.hour

Syllabus is very organized so you know exactly what will be covered in class. 3 essays+in class midterm+research paper. She has you do assignments for the research paper throughout the semester which helps keep you on tops of things! No other hw. She does kind of treat the class like kids but liked her enough I took eng 2 with her. Got an A.

She is very strict on attendance, tardiness, and cell phones! Must have both books! 3 essays with peer reviews, midterm, and final research paper (6-8pgs)- all are about California. Do every assignment and attend every class on time and you will do just fine!

Professor Goode's class is challenging, however, my writing improved so much.Must attend all classes. Not a class for lazy people. Put effort into your work and you shall recieve an A. Do participate and don't come late!

Mrs Goode seams more like a high school teacher. She goes on about nothing,don't you dare go to the bathroom "take care of that before class", she says.Don't be late, don't skip class, you HAVE TO STAPLE and hand in your essays at the beginning of class. It seams to me that she doesn't like her job. I wouldn't take her class again.

this teacher gives little feedback on essays, in case you actually want to learn something. Assignments are sometimes unclear or rediculous. although class time in unhelpful, attendence is extermely important. cares more about staples than quality of essays

I enjoyed this class! She IS pretty quirky and DOES get annoyed at the class for silly things, but she knows it and even laughs at herself. The essays were fairly boring, but the readings and in class discussions were great! As long as you read the assignments and go to class, you will do well. I would recommend her class.
