One of the best teachers I've ever had. Treats students as adults; holds them responsible; expects maturity and returns in kind. Brings primary documents for viewing and discussing in the classroom. Returns papers and exams promptly with encyclopedic corrections. Clear lectures and discussions w/challenging, but fair tests. WOW!!!!

Best class I've ever taken in history. Socratic, conversational teacher who brings original primary materials to class (e.g. newspapers/magazines etc.) for us to touch. It's like touching history!! First you come 'cause you have to; then because you want to. He'll sit with students over the scheduled office hour time to give academic aid. Wow!

He is very condescending in a passive aggressive way. He gets close, I've been spit on. The papers are VERY stressful.

Dr. Knee was very interesting. Especially if you take a couple of chokes before class. Take home test are awesome, but graded hard. Would recommend.

Very nice guy. He does get really close to your face sometimes. So close literally I was happy he brushes his teeth. 3 take home tests that are papers but 2 in class tests that are 100% essay. Don't take this class if you can help it but he is a SUPER SUPER nice guy.

NOT AN EASY CLASS TO FOCUS IN. He rambles, never follows any sort of structure. If you are a visual learner, it'll be VERY difficult. If you can learn by listening to all over the place talk, then you might be okay. Test questions are typically from readings. He's a really sweet guy though, gets in your comfort bubble sometimes tho.

Dr. Knee is a crazy, out of this world, brilliant professor that actually MAKES you learn instead of memorize. If you're looking for an easy 'A' don't take him! His test are the hardest I've ever taken, you really have to read, listen, and study attentively to pass. He is extremely helpful. Great Class!!!

Dr. Knee is a wonderful man with a very kind heart. He is right in your face when he talks to you so it can be uncomfortable at times if your not use to it. 2 tests both with essay questions (large ones) and identifiers that can come from any of the 100 books you have to read. Paper is graded harshly. Very nice guy though

Tests are from books and notes. Notes are hard to follow much like his lectures. Three essays (Graded harshly) and 2 exams. Exams have 2 essays and some identifications. Good luck finding the identifiers, since they are the most obscure tidbits in the book.

Arrogant crazy person who spends the first 6 classes telling you what he's NOT going to do.. which is help you. That's your cue to leave. Tangential lectures almost impossible to follow with notes. Invades everyone's personal space and thinks he's God's gift to students.

Had to drop him after two classes. He spent the entire first class praising his own teaching and invading your personal space, and the second class giving an incomprehensible lecture about... something. I'm still not sure what he was talking about! Thank goodness a seat was open in another history, I was so uncomfortable with him in my face! Spits

My advice is to try his class. He's crazy from the start, but you get used to him and he becomes entertaining to say the least. The tests are hard but his lectures show that he's passionate about the subject. The writing assignments assure you at least a B in the class. He's not that bad :)

Dr. Knee, in a nutshell, was the single finest teacher I had at the College of Charleston. Some of the reviews are so unfounded. Yes, he expected a lot from you- HOWEVER, he gave a lot. If every teacher had his passion, the educational system would be a much better place. I took 5 classes from him and enjoyed every minute of it- Thanks Dr. Knee!

Yikes! He's super nice and he's entertaining..but the tests are crazy hard and it's hard to stay focused. My notes were always jumbled and hard to follow when it came to studying for the tests because he was so crazy with the lectures. His tests are pretty impossible but the information IS in the book, even if it's in some random caption somewhere.
