Comment:

Took the class online. Full-time student and full-time worker. Prof. would post quizzes or assignments for about 2 days, closing them early at 9am-12pm. Not really guided in the class at all. Wasn't able to gain access to many of the assignments posted due to working 12hrs. Emailed him and was told he's "not inclined" to leave assignments open.

Comment:

Fantastic! History was never something that I was into but he made the class enjoyable. The lectures are great but you have to read beforehand. Essays are the hardest part of the class. Recommend 100%.

Comment:

If you hate reading and arent good with history, this can be very hard! Syllabus is accurate and the course is designed to test your limits by alternating due dates each week. Stay on top of reading. Read ahead and takes notes while you do so! Quizzes can be hard, but notes help. My worst subject, but the essays are very helpful grade boosters!

There's not enough space to write all the good things about this class or professor Houck. YOU WILL LEARN, YOU WILL PASS. He has 3 modules that consist of a Document Analysis, Quizzes, Content list(of everything that will be on the test) and an exam for every module (total of 3 for the semester). Highly recommend!

he is an awesome dude, read instructions thoroughly! he will not round or give extra credit so you will have to work for your grade. he does stray from material and discuss personal anecdotes, however, he does cover all material.

I enjoyed History thanks to Houck. Someone give this guy an award! His quizzes are simple 10 questions and has four modules. If you don't attend the class you will miss out on some good lectures. YES YOU HAVE TO READ! But he makes the class enjoyable.

He is very knowledgeable about what he is teaching and will try to help you if you are struggling. You have a quiz over each chapter that requires Lockdown Broswer, but you can use your book. He will drop your lowest test score.

Mr. Houck is good. People told me that it would be easier but is not that bad. My lowest grade of my first semester was in his class because he is that only one that made us do exams in class and quizzes online but with LockDown Browser. If he see you looking somewhere else in a exam he will stare at you the entire freaking hour.

EASY Summer ONLINE COURSE. If you can take this class online, do it. Didn't really need the book. He does ask you to "Quote" it, but its not that serious to be honest. I did have a lot of homework because it was a Summer II course and it went quick, but it was completely worth it. Easy grader. Easy 10 question quizzes. Quizlet is your bestfriend!

He gives some of the best lectures due to his charisma and intelligence. I took him for 1301 and 1302 and I have to say he's one of the best professors I've ever had the privilege of taking. He's certainly a solid choice and I highly recommend undergrads to take his class.

The lectures are easy to follow, they're never boring. There are 3 papers that are required in the class but they're really easy. He gives good feedback. Multiple quizzes as well. As long as you show up for class and study the tests shouldn't be hard to pass.

Professor Houck is an amazing professor. There are three exams, three essays, and an online quiz for each chapter. He drops the two lowest quiz grades. Gives good feedback on essays and a content list, not a review, for the exams. Makes class enjoyable and is always joking around.
