This guy was really something else. He thought the more biological half of the course and was passionate about photosynthesis, but didn't seem like he liked teaching. However, we had such a great TA so it balanced it out. Do as well as possible in Dr. Allen's half, because his exams are much harder, but luckily they get curved as everyone does bad.

Power points considered of many different themes sort of strung together without too much explanation. Not helpful. I found the information elsewhere online. You can do well on his tests by studying the past exams and the suggested homework. That's basically it. The TA was amazing.

Do not take Moore if you can help it. I had him for second half of semester. Both of his two exam averages were about 50%. luckily he does apply a very large curve. He is terrible teacher, powerpoints are garbage, mistakes all over, and exams are over things you didnt even really go over. he posted previous tests which did help.

Comment:
There was a disturbing lack of concern for his students during the course. Couple this with useless powerpoints, and frequent mistakes during lecture, and you have a recipe for a disastrous professor. Moore simply has no teaching skills. If the only way to get a spot in another teacher's BCH 473 class is to cut off your own leg, do so.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS AT ALL. His exams are super difficult and you won't get more than a 50. THE WORST TEACHER I've ever had.

This class is no doubt hard. His lecture notes are mostly handwritten and not that helpful unless you have a good concept of the background. The class does poorly on the exams though so the curve is usually pretty high. He is pretty funny and likes to look at the bigger picture and applies biophysical chem to the real world.

Dr. Moore is a great guy, but his lecture notes are terrible and mostly all handwritten with poor handwriting at that. He conveys the message appropriately, but don't expect to look over his notes and understand anything. Attend lecture and read the book for his section. Test questions are meant to be tricky as well

Attendance is definately manditory for this class. He's really big on the big picture of the material. He focuses on a couple of topics from the chapters, so you need to attend lecture to know which topics to know really well. He also loves physical chemistry, so be prepared to calculate. Overall, a great biochem professor.
