Very laid back teaching style but gets things done. Uses power points to instruct and sticks to lesson plans well. Overall a good instructor.

Good teacher, but it's true, the optical mineralogy videos from the 1980's suck. Always helpful and friendly. Definitely study the tests he has archived.

very clear lectures, follows lesson plan. he is very willing to help and explain things, nice guy, too. his tests are hard, but if you go to and copy the old exams from years past a lot of the questions reappear. he also curves, which is nice. overall a good teacher.

Comment:
Andy had the hardest tests of any geology teacher. He emphasized concepts over memorization, and believe me after the first test we were all making sure we understood every little concept he taught. Overall, more geology profs need to be like him.
