She is super passionate about history, even at 8am. She lectures for the full class with a powerpoint with no words, so you have to pay attention. She barely gave any homework, but you have to read three books and write papers. Her midterm & final are comprehensive so pay attention. She expects everyone to be jazzed about history, even on zoom.

very nice lady, but doesn't seem to care about students lives. She begs for people to ask questions and gets mad when no one has questions or answers her questions. Expects previous knowledge. Reading responses on 3 books, midterm and finals are defining terms in detail and writing paper. Work can be easy, but lots of reading expected

She clearly has a passion for history but that does not make up for her overly strict grading and her rude attitude to students. You will feel good about her tests, but then be crushed when you get the results back and see that she marked it wrong even though you got the right answer. I did not listen and I took this class. Do not do the same...

Under no circumstances should you be taking this professor, unless, you want to spend every waking moment stressing about her exams. I studied for a combined total of nine hours for her first test and made a 'good grade' in her opinion of a 42/50 which to make things worse she was so rude in explaining why. Things did not get better in quarantine.

Dr. Jackson is so fun and super nice! Not too many assignments but tests are all essays and she grades tough. Her powerpoints are mainly pictures so listen to her lectures and take lots of notes. Not an easy A but not too hard to earn a B.

She is very passionate about what she teaches, but grades hard. I would not take if you are trying to get an easy A or easy high B. Not a lot of homework, but tests are all essay style.

There's a lot to be said about Dr. Jackson and her Wild West class- the character limit makes it hard to explain. I thoroughly enjoyed her class but I'm partial because I just adore history. It is a lot of work but it isn't hard to do, you just have to stay on top of it. Worried by reviews, I took a chance on her class and I'm glad I did.

Dr. Jackson really cares about her students and that they learn. Her lectures are interesting and you can really tell she is extremely passionate and knowledgable about History. Every class I'd end up learning something new. Bit of a tough grader when it comes to tests, you really have to know your stuff since it's all short answers.

Incredibly knowledgable about history. You need to attend her lectures to have the best chance of getting a good grade, but her passion for the subject made them enjoyable. Assigns two papers which were a pain to write, but besides that not horribly difficult to do well. Very hard to get an A, however. I would definitely recommend her for a Gen Ed.

Jackson-Abernathy is a very good lecturer and she is approachable and funny too. You really have to study for the tests and work hard for the papers because she is a tougher grader than most professors I've had in this university. Just show up to lectures, take notes, and work very hard to prepare for the tests and papers.

Pretty conservative and makes it known in class. Doesn't "believe" in safe spaces and lets the class know it. If you are a minority of any kind, I would recommend taking someone else in the department.

Received no feedback on grading of the Blackboard posts through the semester (35% of grade). Syllabus said prompts for finals essay questions would be posted 10 days to two weeks prior to due date but actually went up 6 days prior. Never saw my grade for the final, but this one class kept me from getting a 4.0 in all work attempted at Belmont.

DONT TAKE HER CLASS. I didn't listen to the comments on here and took her. I regret that decision. She was the rudest and hardest teacher I've ever had. I spent most of my time trying to pass this Gen Ed. Exams are written out and each question is a page long. Not clear AT ALL on grading. Get ready to study over 40 dates with each exam. NIGHTMARE.
