Nice old guy who is very passionate about his work. He lectures are fun but sometimes ramble on. I’m not sure he covers all the material he plans to which leaves students to depend heavily on the textbook. I’d take another class from him though.

Cliff is definitely scattered. It also can be hard to get an answer from him. However he teaches well and has lots of patience. Overall it was a good class.

Good teacher and a great person. He made me think about how soils relate to plant growth, buildings and highway design. Tough class that makes you think.

He is a fantastic person, and a wonderful teacher. If you don't understand - ASK! He will be there to help. There is a lot of work, but if you want to learn form the best - he's it!

Very caring professor, but he's REALLY scatter-brained. He'd assign papers and forget to lecture on some integral subjects needing to write them. Lab takes A LOT of time.

This class was probably the worst class of my college career. I have not had to put so much effort into a 200 level class EVER! I did manage an A, but it wasn't easy nor was it a very good learning environment.

Too many writing assignments and not enough time to do them. Tech report for lab is BS as well as the presentation. There is no traditional tests in the class. The idea of having a favorite soil is ridiculous and absurd!!!!!!!

It's supposed to be a basic course, but this guy goes all-out like were working on our masters. Super nice guy, though. If you take his class, prepare to abandon your social/family/work life!
