Best science teacher I've ever had. Always available for EI and test review outside the classroom. HW is reasonable and doable w/ MGSP. Solid grading rubric (no quizzes!) and drops your worst test grade if you do better on the final. Too bad he's not teaching SP212. If you're stressed about this course, you'd be blessed to have Prof Hartley.

I really loved Professor Hartley! He was a great professor that always helped you if you didn't understand the material. All of his lectures are entertaining and helped you learn the material in a new light. Would recommend him to anyone who is worried about doing well in Physics since he teaches very well.

Dr. Hartley is a great teacher who makes time for his students. I struggled and he made sure to help me every chance he got. Our class didn't use Wiley which was helpful, but there are no quizzes so labs, homework, and exams count for a lot. The handout notes were great to and let you know what was important. Best teacher for the course.

He makes lectures really easy by handing out notes, and having us write a couple things in them. He DOES NOT USE WHILEY PLUS (annoying homework software, that everyone hates) and uses his own homework source instead. He hints at what will be on tests, and is very easy to pay attention to in class.

(Physics major here). Dr. Hartley is an excellent teacher and does an awesome job of clearly teaching the lesson while holding the class's attention. However, you do have to learn the material and regurgitate it. He does not give grades for participation or effort.

Dr. Hartley is great! He's definitely one of the tougher physics prof's to have, but you will learn the material. Do the HW though! Its worth a lot of your grade.

Best physics teacher hands down. Everyone in my section enjoyed this class. Always comes the night before homework is due to help. Keeps class interesting and makes jokes all the time. Teaches his own way which is much easier than the textbook. Test is similar to the homework and lectures so it was not that hard, just long.

An absolutly amazing teacher. He cares about his students, has good office hours, and comes in the night before all HWs are due and tests in order to help out and clarify the material. His tests are very hard and long, but if you study then you should be fine. He is hilarious in class, and is very clear in his teacher. Highly recommended.

very interesting in class, explains things very clearly. tests are difficult and long. do online hw, and go to hw EI sessions- they'll help you on hw and tests. Definately recommend him if you like physics and don't mind work, or if you don't like physics and aren't good at it.

Awesome professor, without a doubt one of the best I have had at the Academy. His class isn't a cake walk but he is more than helpful with explanations, very clear on his notes, and he will prepare you for the final way better than the other profs. Take him if you can.
