His class is all lecture with some participation. You can sleep or participate, he doesn't mind. The class is largely based on two papers written about books. He is a fair grader. Hard to get an A, but easy to get a B.

Prof Peeler is a little odd, his class is what you make it. You can sleep or participate, read or not, the grades are based Largely on the papers and essay exams. He does not grade hard, but assigns a lot of reading. If you don't like to read, take notes and you will be ok. He is a good prof for any student, unless you are a terrible writer.

I have no idea what we were supposed to come away for this class with. However his grade are based only on class participation and papers that you write based on books you read during the semester. If you go in for EI on the papers you will get a good grade on them. Stay awake and talk in class (you don't even have to talk about the readings)

best history prof I have ever had; two long papers but given an option on what two you write, also papers based upon readings in class with outside research discouraged

Comment:
I took HH355- History of Art and Ideas in America. Prof. Peeler doesn't seem to appreciate anything except scoffing at people who made a name for themselves. Class was full of long silences with Prof. searching for something to say next. Not very passionate about the subject.

Great professor. Turn in your essays early to him so that he can correct them for you. Get you a grade higher.

Easy and fun class. Great teacher. Grades the two papers harder than I expected for a history instructor, but good overall.

Great Teacher! Easy Class. You write two long papers about two of four books (already mentioned) that he really assigns so he can read them. if you can write at all he will give you a good grade. he hands out the exams ahead of time so you can prepare

Encourages open discussion in his class. He is very entertaining as well as educational. He focuses a lot on literature, around 50% of you grade will be 2 long essays on an assigned book (i.e. The Inferno, Eutopia, Dantes Travels, etc.)
