She is an amazing professor! Best science teacher I have had at this school! She is extremely caring and wants to make sure everyone understands and succeeds. Again one of the best professors I have ever had. Her tests and workload are normal for a science class. If you work hard and put in effort you will do well.

explains the topic well. offers extra credit on MC. gives lots of worksheets to practice but doesn't actually do many in class just one or two. tests are not that difficult but tricky. she has her old test on BB thats helpful. no quizzes. need to come to class to understand the material.

Comment:

Chemistry is a challenge in itself, but professor Finocchio takes the time to make sure that you understand what you're learning. She is extremely helpful in office hours and always offers extra credit for Mastering Chem. Her review sessions before exams are also very helpful. Tests are challenging, but manageable if you study.

Comment:

Professor Finocchio is such an amazing professor! She really cares about her students and wants to see them all succeed. Very accessible outside of the classroom and is very helpful during office hours. She pushes you to become a better student, and she inspired me to continue with my Biochemistry major.

Comment:

I imagine that for Chem majors Dr. Finocchio's class is outstanding. But from the perspective of someone who is just trying to satisfy a core requirement, this class was way more work than necessary. Finocchio consistently explored very specific examples and concepts that I don't think were necessary for a intro level class.

AMAZING. loved lab a lot more than lecture, as i'm hands on. GO TO OFFICE HOURS IF YOU'RE STRUGGLING OR YOU'LL REGRET IT. helpful, sweet, genuine, and one of the toughest graders ever. so so knowledgeable and accessible. she deserves to be queen. but i definitely got a run for my money in terms of working my butt off.

Incredible person but most difficult class ever, I studied roughly 7-9hrs/week. I should have reviewed the textbook practice problems more, and I would have done a lot better. I excelled in hw and projects but on tests-- not so much. But she's always there to help and truly cares for her students. I'd go to her for advice any day #mamadebbie

She was amazing! She genuinely cares about her students and wants you to do well. She is very good at teaching the material in lecture and answers any questions you have extremely well. Go to office hours! I would say it's almost more important than going to class. Her tests are easy if you prepare well, but you do need to really know your stuff!

The Debbie Machine is by far my favorite teacher at USD. She cares so much about her student's success that she actually lights up when they finally start to understand the concepts. I'm not even planning to major in chemistry and I'd take her class again. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS AND REVIEW SESSIONS.

Comment:

Mrs. Finocchio is one of the sweetest professors you will ever have at USD. I highly recommend her class. If you are having a difficult time, be it academically or personally, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! and ask for help for she genuinely cares for her students. TIP: Sit in the front, because her lectures can also be rather on the quiet side.

Dr Finnochio was an incredible professor for my first semester in college as a Pre Med student. she is so clear and helpful and always is willing to stay with you until you understand the concepts (which are absolutely difficult, at times). i worked very hard in her class and it was definitely necessary. but i learned so much and she is wonderful.

Dr. Finocchio is so sweet! I had her for Chem 152 lecture and lab. They are both difficult classes, but she explains things very well. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! Also, make sure you do all of the worksheets she hands out (for lecture). She doesn't collect them for credit, but they are good practice. She is amazing and she truly cares about her students!

Comment:

Finnochio is awesome. She is the chair of the Chem department so she is an expert in her field, but that also means she expects a lot. You need to really understand the subject material for the tests, but if you don't she is always willing to help anyone out. She is really funny, sweet and mom-like. Would recommend her section for science majors.

Professor Finocchio is the best science professor at USD. I went in twice a week to office hours and she was determined and persistent in making sure that I ultimately learn the material. She often went longer than her office hours, she was so dedicated. She really cares about her students too. I wish I could have her teach every class I take.

Really nice lady and super personable. She puts practice exams online that are exactly like her tests. There's online homework twice a week but it helps a ton. Take her for sure!

This is NOT an easy class! She is however a great teacher and very willing to help you if you go to her office hours. The tests are pretty difficult, and there is a lot of memorization needed for this course. I really do suggest her as a lecture teacher, but try to find someone else as a lab instructor because she isn't nearly as helpful in lab.
