Class is hard but not impossible to get an A. You just have to work really hard. Plus, it's an interesting and fun class.

This is the best lab I have taken at GV. Fun experiments and you always get out early. Grade is based on 3 units exams, a final exam, and figuring out an unknown bacteria. Exams are easy if you study the lab manual and his notes. Know the little details from the manual. Highly recommend Dr. Graham.

Might seem dry sometimes, but has really cool stories to tell, bc of all the places he's been in his life. I considered this to be a very clear cut, non-confusing class. He posts very straightforward objectives that make up the entirety of the questions on his exams. Doesn't cover most of the objectives in class, so USE THE BOOK and you're good!

If you read the powerpoints, and look at the chapters you will be fine. The tests come from his powerpoints and he is very upfront on what the tests will cover, he does not try to trick you.

He seems somewhat dry, but if you go to his office hours he's very nice and approachable. He is a great professor, people will complain about microbiology no matter who they take because it's just a tough course that requires a TON of memorization. The book is essential, memorize all the objectives and you will be fine!

This prof has lots of knowledge, but is extremely dry and is a very superficial teacher. He has some awkward mannerisms and can be hard to approach. Thankfully, I took Micro at GRCC where he taught off another profs material, but if you take at GVSU I heard he is brutal. I would opt for another professor unless you are already a Mirco genius...

The material he tests on is exactly what is on his power points. I highly recommend using the powerpoint to guide you reading through the book. He flies through material in class, and you won't get it all, making reading essential. The exams are very straightforward and fair. An A in his class is 95%+ though... Which sucks.

Highly recommend this professor! The class itself requires a tremendous level of studying due to the amount of content that must be covered. Dr. Graham understands this, and provides you with a clear-cut set of study questions. ALWAYS do the objective questions - they include 90% of the exam content. He is a fair when grading exams!

Everything is based on the tests. He gives you a set of points to know for every chapter at the beginning of the year. Every question is directly from those points. Answer those questions and study those answers. Don't bother with the powerpoints. Don't know why everyone said the tests were so hard.

As a person, professor Graham is great. He has entertaining stories and obviously loves what he does. HOWEVER, his lectures have little to do with test questions. The only way to do well is to truly understand the objectives, that will get you a B. If you want an A, be prepared to memorize every table and random factoid.

Worst professor I've ever had. Stay away unless you want to retake it. He doesn't really teach, you basically have to teach yourself. For the tests you need to memorize the book inside and out because he asks hard questions.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. This is one of the hardest professors I've had at GV. The class is interesting and I liked learning the material but when it came to taking the tests, they were impossible.

I would only recommend this prof if you're an independent learner. He will gloss over the material in lecture, but ask very detailed question on the exam. Anything is fair game.

Do not take this professor if you have any sort of attachment to your current GPA. I am an A student and I ended the course with a pathetic C+. It is useless to attend class. Read the text IN DETAIL, or you WILL fail. The course is solely based on 5 mult choice exams. Questions are on the smallest little details possible so study up! Good luck.

I took Microbiology with Dr. Graham as a Summer session at GRCC. He was a fantastic professor and I very much enjoyed the class. He used his personal experiences and incorporated stories from the students to make the class interesting and applicable. As long as you study hard, like a college student should, you will excel in this class.

I had a difficult time in this class. The grade is based solely on the 5 exams you take. Each exam seemed to cover a wide range of information which made studying difficult. Questions were also fairly specific. I wouldn't recommend this professor.

Exams are really difficult. Exam content seemed to be strictly from the textbook and focused on the extraneous details. 95 for an A. I was able to get an A- but I studied from the book. The final exam was awful. Don't even bother studying his pp's, read the book and make your own outlines. Make sure to study all the tables and appendices.

Professor Graham is a nice guy, and his stories are interesting and funny, but most of his exam material comes from the deepest darkest corners of the book, such as a teeny tiny detail from a table or figure in the book. Avoid at all costs if you want to get a good grade in this class, I understand micro is hard, but he makes it impossible.

Lectures really boring in the beginning of the semester but got better towards the end. The exams werent TOO terrible but you definitely had to read the book and make sure you knew your stuff. I missed quite a few classes and learned better by reading the book. Final definitely sucked.
