He is knowledgeable on the material but does not explain it well to those of us who do not have an understanding about it. Lectures include blank slideshow with only pictures. A lot of material he explains is not on the test. Many students have asked and have no idea how to study for the test. Prepare to be highly confused and to study on your own

He is honestly one of the worst teachers I've ever had. None of what he taught was on tests, he only grades you off of a few tests and one project. He knows a lot about art history but he goes into rants on things that aren't even on your test.

I think this is my first B I have ever received- but Idk what I got in the class because he didn't know how to use blackboard. no grade updates were ever posted. He lectures the whole period, mostly on unnecessary material. 3 multiple choice tests and one essay make up your whole grade. MC tests were obscure- class avg 60%. Avoid him if you can.

This is an awful professor, really bad, don't take his class. the class is like slide shows without text, all the slides are pictures, no study guide, so review for the exams, no extra credit. completely nothing .

Doug is very knowledgeable in art history and it was really interesting to hear about some of the history from him because he has visited many of the places he talks about. His lectures were dry and he is kind of awkward and silly, but he still seemed to be a nice guy.

Do not take this teacher. He is terrible. The tests are difficult and none of the material is covered in class. Also, when I asked for clarification on the nature of the questions, he told me to read the vocabulary which WAS NOT ON THE TEST. There is one extra credit assignment to go to a museum and listen to him talk in his gross monotone voice.

I was amazed taking his class and still am today 7 years later!! He changed the way i perceive art and the world- I loved his class- It was probably the best class I've ever taken and id gladly take it again just to hear his awesome stories!!!!

This guy is so boring! Also a hard grader. I wrote a pretty good essay about the San Diego Art Museum, but because I was unsure about a piece of art he gave me a B-. He has a monotone voice and he's lectures are hard to understand because you feel like shooting yourself or you are asleep!

Test are Simple always True and False. Just study the book. The final grade consists of 3 exams and the final. Class lecture are simply slides and films. I found him to be interesting; he knows so much. Just study and you will do well.

This teacher is so full of Art information he makes the class fascinating. He has a bit of a dry sense of humor, but a great teacher.
