AVOID. Her lectures are so confusing and she is a terrible grader. Class is boring and she expects everyone to participate in class discussion every time. The worst. I usually like history classes but this ruined it for me.

Very ineffective teaching style because she does not actually teach except a few Monday's. On Wednesday's students present and on Friday's you take a quiz or write a group paper. Her grading is ridiculous. I'm graduating with a 3.6 and I would still AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.

AVOID! She turns class into a philosophical lesson rather than history, with too much emphasis on things that don't seem relevant. Class is structured out of 100 points, so every point is 1%. Zero feedback on any writing. Only good part about the class is the two extra credit papers.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I very much enjoy history, although her class was not much of history at all. I learned more about world civilizations in high school than I did in this class. Extremely prideful and arrogant, will mark answers wrong and not give any explanation. One of the worst classes I've taken.

First, she does not write the emails and announcements in correct English, but when it comes to your paper, be prepared to be torn apart. She cannot find a thesis statement if it was the only line on the paper, and suggests putting "my thesis is..." Next, she does not repeat herself, and speaks too fast for anyone to get good notes do not take!!!

Overall, that class isn't very difficult. The grading is awful though. Every you do is 10% of your grade which means making a mistake a huge deal. Also her expectations are not conveyed at all. I wouldn't say don't take this professor, she's very nice. But the expectations are difficult.

This class is so boring. She's really not that bad of a teacher, it's definitely a manageable A/A-/B+. I literally barely tried and got an A. Her class used to be easier. Someone must've have told her to step it up a notch. Make sure to do the readings, or else class is just awkward. If you're not a fan of group projects, stay far away from this, one of these projects felt much more like a 300 or 400 level project.

Agree with the person below. Cant miss class though when she hands out sheets for the movies or chapter assignments. If you can get them from someone then you only have to show up on quiz day and presentation day. DOES NOT TEACH. Optional final. I would take her. Class was a joke. she didnt teach, all she did was press play on a DVD player and let the documentaries do the teaching. I went to about 5 full classes and received a B+. good enough for me at least. Dr. Marsilli was not only my favorite professor, but one of the easiest I had this past sememster. She was really understanding and there wasn't much of a work load at all! 3 quizzes ( all announced), 1 paper over a book, take home midterm and final and final group project/paper. If I could retake the class I would so TAKE HER :)

I took her for Inca History. Incredibly easy and low workload, esp. for a 400 level course. She is a really cool teacher who understands that not everyone is a scholar in her field and doesn't expect incredible work. She is a really easy grader and keeps class at least relatively interesting. I would definitely take her again.

She is a great teacher! Funny, and the material is pretty straightforward. This class actually made me interested in Modern Latin American History. Passionate about the subject and without a doubt knows what she's talking about! Encourages her students to have opinions and think deeper about the world around us in general.
