Comment:
Professor Fleisher is very knowledgable and definitely cares about his students, but he is not a very engaging lecturer. The textbook was incredibly important in his class and he gave next to no information regarding what exams/quizzes would be on. That being said, he values participation a lot and it's easy to get on his good side.

Good person, not great teacher. He clearly knows what he's talking about, but tends to be dry. If you go to see him during office hours he is nice and friendly. Should definitely read book and participate.

Professor Fleisher is very smart and informative. His lectures aren't very dynamic, but he knows a lot about the subjects and he is more than willing to engage in class discussion, and to entertain any student questions. He is very helpful and encourages you to come to his office hours. Must do the reading! Asks you to cite the readings on exams.

I can't say enough about how much I didn't like him. He gave me someone else's grades throughout most of the semester, so instead of getting an A, I originally got a C, which he then had to change. Lectures were intolerably boring and work was often pointless. Textbooks are not necessary.

The lectures get pretty boring, but they get interesting when he has dialogue with the class. There is only a mid-term, term paper and final. Fair grader and lets you know exactly what he wants from you.

I understand this is an intro class.Professor Fleisher is not only incapable of keeping the class even slightly interesting, but cannot even bother to learn the names of his students until after the midterms. Students who have opposing views in regard to the subject matter, or even show passion when speaking are consistantly shot down.

Dr. Fleisher is a very informative professor and knows what he is talking about. His work load consists of a mild amount of reading, but this is college. There is never homework except for the reading which he gives ample time for, and your grade is reliant on your performance on the midterm, the final and the paper. Just show up to class and pu

Do not take this class unless you want crazy amounts of required reading and unreasonably time-consuming papers. One 20 page original research paper on polarization in American politics. Now throw in two extra "short" papers that require you to incorporate 25 different 50+ page articles into a clear thesis. Plus more. 2hr classes feel like forever.

I don't know what this person below is talking about. He tells you exactly what he wants on the papers and encourages you to visit office hours for clarification. He gives you a study sheet for the tests so as long as you prepare the questions, you're fine. The class requires alot of work but you learn alot in return.

Worst professor in the political science department. DO NOT TAKE. All the reading is required, tests are impossible and weekly assignments. He will bore you to death in class as well.

Not a bad teacher. Lectures were powerpoint, not too much work. He can be a tough grader, but he is fair and explains what you do wrong well. Sometimes he is friendly and readings are pretty easy. Not a bad class.

Definitely can't call him easy, but he's a pretty intelligent guy who has written tons of books/articles on political science. Grading is very tough, especially for an Intro class, but taking him means you take the best. If you're strictly looking for a core requirement, I'd say steer clear. Prospective poli sci majors should take him.

Class is lecture-heavy and can be dry, especially with all the Power Point. Straightforward tests and one long research paper. He devotes lots of class time to current events, which is nice. Print out the PP notes beforehand and you can zone out in class.

I won't lie for the 1st half the semester I was terrified. The midterm was hard, no1 did well b/c grading was based on a rubric we didn't have. But going to c him at office hours helps, and by the time of the final u know what to expect. He's a very good prof and explains material well. He's intimidating, but gets better, and I def learned a lot.

He loves touting his study about congressional elections and thinks SPSS is the greatest thing ever ... HOWEVER, he's a nice guy and things are ALWAYS clear as to what he expects ... liberal bias but he will give equal time to the conservative students in class

Probably the best professor in the entire poli sci department. very clear, very helpful, and very smart. An A is attainable, but you have to work your butt off to get it. Grades are based on 2 exams and a term paper. You will learn a lot from his classes
