Class consist of 2 map quizzes , one research project and 3 essay tests. She posts the test ? on board but she only chooses one or two from there for you to write on. The class before the test she tells you what to write about.

Her tests were not tests. They were essays. Her lectures were boring because she did not put any emotion or make it fun. Strictly notes, and half of the time you couldn't copy the notes because she would flip so fast.

Ms. Jacobson is very detailed in her lectures. She also has a sense of humor that can bring down the tension in the classroom. As long as you read the documents you were good to go. However, do not expect any grace period when things are done. She is a stickler for deadlines especially test/quiz days. You will not be able to make up a quiz.

Comment:
Western Civ. taught by Mrs. Jacobson is a good class to take if you're willing to work. It's not an easy subject to learn and they don't tell you that when you're signing up. Her tests are simple if you are good at essays, study a lot, and read the textbook. The lectures are dry and don't really grab attention, but she does have a sense of humor.

She not only wants you to learn history, but she wants you to understand the importance of it. Mrs. Jacobson shows the parallels between ancient western civilizations and modern times. She makes it easy to pay attention in class because she has quite the sense of humor. Her tests are easy if you study and take notes in class.

I've taken Ms. Jacobson for three classes now, foreign policies, western civilization, and U.S History 2. All I can say is I'm so sad I won't ever have her again. I've never had a better teacher. Really gets the class thinking and wants you to think for yourself. The class is an easy A if you study. Highly recommend.

I am an A student and this is the most confusing class I've ever had. The professor is really nice but nice does not help me get good grade. I never thought about dropping class until this one but I'll probable have to tough up and go through it.

Dr. Jacobson is incisive and engaging. Taking notes can be confusing until you realize she'd prefer to have you think about what bearing historical events have on the present and what lessons we can learn from them going forward than memorize dates and key terms. Her class requires thought and work--all the best classes do!

Prof. Jabson is a brilliant teacher. I had zero interest in history up until taking this course. If you do the work, read over the material and take notes this class will be a breeze. I highly recommend anyone who needs this class to take it with her.

Jacobson is challenging in a good way, helpful and quick to answer questions. She gives about 5 in depth essay questions to study weeks before the test and lets us choose from 2 on the day of the test. If you come prepared to take LOTS of notes, look at the slides she provides, and study hard (it is college, right?), an A is totally achievable.

Very clear expectations. 9 multiple choice quizzes, and two document quizzes. Drops lowest quiz grade. Two big essay-only tests and essay-only final. One research proposal paper. No discussions. Posts essay questions before each test that she will pick from, so study all questions (rec answering them all in Word first) and you will be fine. Easy A
