I took Professor layng for Journalism I, I absolutely love this guy, he actually cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. Take professor Layng any chance you get. He is extremely forgiving and understanding of situations.

Comment:

I liked Layng and would take him again for another English course. He does assign a lot of papers, but he's also really helpful and grades clearly. I'm not a major, but I didn't feel like I couldn't make at least a B on work. Be sure to follow his instructions carefully since he uses that to grade you.

Take Laing! He's really good, nice, and his grading rubrics are super clear. I liked this course, though I admit I'm a major. If you have any issues with writing, go to get some tutoring help. I don't, but I did it, and it improved every grade I worked for. He won't be easy, but I think he's better than some of the others. He is easy to find, too.

George is the man. An amazing professor who really cares about you and will help you with anything. I didn't even ask him to but he is trying to line up internships for me. Great human.

Professor Layng is one of the nicest professors have met. Although I don't like telling people how to do their jobs, Professor Layng is a HORRIBLE english teacher. He doesn't tell you hoe you will be graded, and yet requires the WORST/INCORRECT things for essays we write, and grades very harshly for very well written essays.

Had him for Creative Non-Fiction. Awesome Professor! Would definitely take any class with him. He is very easy going and laid back, always willing to help and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the assignment. He pushes you to think outside your comfort zone but is not pushy at all.

Awesome professor, very down to earth, easy to talk to and he honestly cares about his students. He gives pretty detailed instructions in the form of handouts so you can go back and reference them at any time, he's willing to work with you and is flexible with deadlines. Overall just a tremendously smart and nice guy. Slightly better than Dr. Filas

Not only does he score points with me because he's a Kevin Smith fan, but he actually is a very good teacher. He let us submit rewrites in a timely manner to improve our grades and didn't really overload the class with work. I wouldn't take English Comp if I didn't have to but he's the man to take it with.

I had Professor Layng for Creative Nonfiction. Going into the class, I had low hopes as I'd always written fiction before. I LOVED it! I continue to write in this genre and was so pleased at how helpful he was in terms of improving my stories. He's one of the most caring professors and honestly, probably the nicest person I've ever met.

Awesome teacher! Truly cares about his students and wants you to succeed. No tests or quizzes, only papers and small assignments. Offers extra credit and the opportunity to revise papers and hand them in for a better grade! So helpful and is willing to do whatever he can. I would DEF recommend taking this class if you can!

he is very nice and is passionate. if you have a highly developed writing style don't take him because he will not grade you well and the pedestrian writing topics and incessant drilling of basics will drive you to insanity. every paper is on almost the exact same thing. however, if you need help with the basics, hes your man

I personally didn't like this class at all. He drilled basics like we were freshmen in high school, not freshmen in college. He is extremely nice but the way he edits papers i found vague and aggravating. He is great in that he will always allow rewrites but his writing topics are not varied AT ALL so it's easy to get bored with the material
