Dr. Lash's class was my favorite this semester. He was fun and energetic, and always came to class ready to discuss the material. I left each day learning something new. Make sure you keep up with the textbook reading, as he doesn't cover that material in class and expects you to know it already.

Professor Lash has been one of my favorite professors at UHCL! He is VERY passionate about geography and has many stories from his travels around the world. Our class was an hour and a half and it always flew by. Keep up with the textbook reading, because he WILL call on you in class to see if you read. If you stay on track, you'll be fine!!

Professor Lash is fun and energetic! If you need help he WILL help you. I was struggling so much on our story map project so i went to his office and he showed me exactly what i needed to do. Three tests one semester long project, fun and interesting lecture topics.

Dr. Lash is an amazing person to be around. He makes you think, he lets you make your own choices--he lets you be flexible. It's quite obvious he loves teaching people the minutia of GIS and he's darn good at it. Class is never boring and I never felt like I was wasting time listening to him talk.

I took the Geography of Texas course and loved it!The class was 100% group discussion, which made it fun.There was a reasonable amount of reading but the assignments were easy and interesting to complete. If you actually try then you should get an A! He was a fair grader, extremely helpful, and defiantly one of my favorite teachers so far!

If you are not a Geography major, do not take this course. He is extrememly passionate about this submject and will require you to engage in each class discussion. He is not a "power point" professor. There aren't many tests but there are "chapter discussion" packets that he expects you to have completed before each class.

He has extremely high expectations of you as a student. I worked really hard in his class but I also learned a lot. He is thorough but relevant. He does not give reviews but he does tell you to star things in your notes that will be on the test. Attendance is crucial to pass the course.

Comment:

Very hard grader. He wants you to think like he thinks but doesn't convey exactly how to do that. Work is easy with reading and writing a summary but he grades hard and is not helpful. Never has time to talk to you unless it is during his assigned "office" hours. Not very helpful. Warning!!

Ugh! I felt that I learned a lot in this class but he is an extremely hard grader. I had a 4.0 going into this class and ended up with a C+. I approached him several times for tips on what I was doing wrong and got a useless answer. Take at your own risk.

He is an awesome teacher in all of his geography courses. Be prepared and ready for reading an average to large amount. He comes to class very enthusiastic about geography every day and has tons and tons of stories and pictures to share from his many journeys.Only advice I can give is get organized and ready to learn about every aspect of the world

He is very knowledgeable, but he is an extremely hard grader - harder than he should be. His grading is actually unfair a lot of the time. He requires a lot of work/reading, but the courses require it. It's up to your discretion whether you want to take any of his classes.

Most of his classes don't require books. He has a textbook in the library and tells you what chapters you need to read. There are 10 quizzes and 2 tests. His tests are ALL ESSAY and he really doesn't give reviews. But..overall he is a great professor and always willing to help.

Comment:

Not really sure what the class number was but I had Dr Lash at San Jacinto and it was one of the best classes I've ever taken. If your're at all into Geograph or world events - or if you are just looking for a fun class that provides a decent intellectual experience to fill in some open credits. The stories and slideshows are awesome.
