Comment:

The examples he does in class and on the homework are simple and the labs are not that bad. But, he writes the midterm and final in such a way that is ridiculously challenging with the time constraint. You need to understand the material perfectly to do good on the midterms. Referring to old exams are very helpful.

Comment:

Class more so consisted of examples than instruction, so I was left confused as to how to do the techniques in graphics. Your success relies on your relationships with your classmates, as group work is encouraged and even necessary once or twice. Things are simple at first, but halfway through the semester things change. Don't be caught unprepared.

Jeff is an alright lecturer, not much good nor bad. Lectures were pretty boring but I don't blame him since the material is so bland. The class in general didn't require much work.

Comment:

One of my main complaints with Jeff is his dryness in lectures and how disconnected lecture feels from homework. Although the topic is the same, he will often expect us to use techniques beyond what instructed in lecture without being taught. He is also a very dry, but thorough, lecturer. Be prepared to hear his life story on the first day.

Jeff is a great guy and a very clear teacher. His only weakness is that his lectures are often pretty dry and hard to focus on. Not necessarily his fault, just not very exciting content matter.

I personally like the way that Jeff teaches, he is very precise with expectations. Sometimes the homework can have curveballs thrown in, but overall they help with the material. He gives real-world applicably to the material with a little history on each topic; I like this because it gives the material meaning and incentive to know/study it.

Not a bad lecturer, just not alot of content in the course so it goes very slow. Tough grader on neatness, work must be VERY neat and clean.

ME 170 was a great class. I had one of the TA's as my lecture leader, but Jeff was the man behind the curtain. The labs were straightforward and I always finished my homework assignments before leaving class. Tests were fair and graded pretty easily. The final project was done mostly in class. Easy A if you can visualize in 3D

Comment:

One of my least favorite professors at UW. Lectures are pointless and he's often found repeating things in lecture 4-5 times. He makes mistakes often so you're never sure what to follow and what not to. Boring course, even more boring professor. Material isn't hard but the homework assignments are long and tedious and make you want to rather fail.

Jeff is a good professor. Lecture time is boring, but I'm not sure how one could make this topic very thrilling either. He seems very shy, but is always willing to help! He is a tough grader, but if you put the time and effort into the homework you'll be fine! Neatness is extremely important in this class. Tests were fair.

Jeff is extremely clear in his expectations and is very helpful. He teaches the material in a manner that is easy to understand. Gives you work time during which he grades homework but is available to help you whenever you need. He's a tough grader but he's very fair and has a calming personality.

He is so, so, so bad. Boring, tedious, monotone, makes exams really hard -- things you've never seen on HW. Labs are irrelevant to the stuff he teaches. Worst courseinstructor I have taken at this school and it's not close

Jeff was always there for help if you had any trouble. The class was very easy though and was somewhat fun. Personally I would rather draw stuff than do a math problem or write a paper. Easy A if you can visualize.

No idea how this guy has good ratings. I'm doing well, but he's just bad. his lectures are AWFUL. the most boring thing you'll ever experience -- guarantee you won't show up at all by the time the semester is halfway through. non-stop tedious and boring homework assignments at terrible times. right before finals, day after spring break. AVOID!

while doing the exam you'll think you're doing pretty good, everyone was surprised with how low the midterm average was. homework is super easy and labs are as well. guys really nice, he and the TA's always have office hours.. mine had no textbook at all
