Comment:

I really enjoyed Furniss' class. It was online, but I spoke with him a few times personally and he was very helpful. Always willing to chat or explain things further and talk about things other than just class if you want. Great resource for general business questions/guidance/Ideas/feedback.

Comment:

Easy teacher and not difficult. Lots of experience and been doing this for a long time. One thing I will say, is he does talk pretty slow so it can be hard to pay attention at times. I believe he's from the south and just has that slow cadence that is common there.

Comment:

Probably the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures were incredibly boring, I had no clue what to take notes on, and often he would cram chapters a couple of days before the test because his time management was so bad. I would recommend not taking BGEN 105S, especially since its not required for the business school.

I also have to say that attending Professor Furniss' lectures was one of my most experiences in life: I just started skipping because it is really not worth your time. You basically buy the very expensive book simulation case package and have to do the homework. In the lectures the Professors just reads the slides of the presentations uploaded

The guy's lectures were the most boring experience of my life. Essentially its all based off of a Pearson online course but 20 percent of your grade is attendance so he just reads the slide that Pearson provides. If you take his class I recommend bringing your laptop and working on the online portion. Nice guy though. Big curve on tests.

Great teacher who is well respected by students. Interesting lectures and easy to pay attention in his class. Makes the material relatable, and is clear with grading criteria and expectations. Not a difficult class if you put in the expected work.

Unprofessional and unmotivated teacher. Lectures are not interesting or helpful in understanding course material. The only way I learned the material was reading the text book on my own. Nobody has respect for this teacher, as students come to his class and put earphones in and do other homework on their laptops while he rants off topic.

So boring. Talks in circles. Everything he says is borderline meaningless and riddled with ambiguity. In small doses, this is tolerable. An hour and a half of it is way too big of a dose. One time, he had a basic powerpoint slide up with four words relating to four topics of discussion for the day. He literally just repeated the words for 20 mins.

Took MGMT 101S Intro to Entertain Business from Jerry. The class was easy with online multiple choice tests, but Jerry was usually late to class then spent the first 20 minutes getting ready or barking at the students for being talkative or impolite. Avoid if you can.

About to graduate, favorite Professor in SOBA. Very down to earth, very rational. Wish more UM Professors were like him. Challenging material but taught well. Doesn't try to trick you on tests like most professors do for fun. Genuinely wants students to succeed if they put in effort.

He requires you to bring your smart phone or tablet to class for attendance and quizzes. The links on his moodle page rarely worked. Picked out some very arrogant TED talks to play during class. I expected an intro to business class (where they define business lingo at least) and received a watch TED talks class. OK class for a credit filler.

Horribly boring. Talks forever that has nothing to do with the material and only about himself. He has you buy like a $60 book that you use like twice. You are also basically teaching yourself with the workload he gives you. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS MANDATORY. Its not worth your time at alllll.
