Comment:
She is not good at online classes, the lectures are hard to follow (strong accent) and the labs are honestly pointless because you can's see anything, due to poor filming. She forgets what numbers she uses during calculations, or just does simple math wrong during her lectures. She DOES NOT like to be corrected. Worst science proff I have had.

Absolutely terrible. Does NOT care about students whatsoever and is a terrible teacher. Her lectures are messy and hard to read. She does not care if you fail, and you will. Class averages on tests are in the high 60's. She will not let you make it up nor explain what you did wrong. Worst class Ic've ever had.

Unfortunately, this professor is not very understanding and does not give students second chances despite good efforts. Extremely hard grader and is unfair to students. Average grade on exams for the class is below 60%. Do not take this class if you want to fail.

If youre wanting to actually learn chemistry, and pass, I dont recommend!! She is completely opposite of helpful, and is extremely lazy and rude. She does not care to help her students

I cannot stand her teach style. She does not give you a very good understanding of what to study just study what she has written down. Ok, so is that supposed to help me when it comes to the test. I feel frustrated about this class and I know I'm going fail which makes me upset for nursing school. Even my study group doesnt even know what to study.

She expects you to memorize every thing she assigns you to read in the text book. She makes the tests so hard that she gets a tutor, just so you can barely pass. She expects you to go to tutor and takes it personally if you dont have time to go. She also grades on a messed up curve.

She doesn't give every1 an equal opportunity 2 succeed. If u miss a class b/c u are sick she will not fill u in on what u missed unless u ask. Even then, she becomes sour & annoyed if u miss a class and takes it personal. She talks over u when u ask Q's, she doesn't explain concepts, vry heavy accent & goes thru things very quick. Absolutely Awful

She cares a lot about making sure we understand. SHES VERY HARD ON GRADING. Labs are mostly Her going through it, we do it, then we work on all calculations together. She gives you an extra 5 points at the end & 10% more for perfect attendance. She was great but tough af. I would take her again if she wasnt such a tough grader.

This is my third quarter with Joanna so I have learned quite a bunch about her. She is tough. This is not an easy class. You have to study hard and learn the material down pat, if not, you will most likely fail. Almost all of my classmate have said this was the hardest class they have ever taken. It's a good class but be ready to work extremly hard

In her class she gets off topic alot and makes you copy notes you will never use vs. getting to the important stuff and focusing on that. Also, she has you copy down everything vs. letting you try out problems your self to see if you can learn them. A

Joanna Is very caring, but it can be hard to learn for students who like more leeway and freedom. I am fairly good at chemistry due to my math skills, but she is very picky and tedious in the work she wants to see. If you have no base knowledge in chem I would recommend her, but if you like freedom in problem solving avoid this class.

She doesn't explain well in lectures. Just does problems and you copy them. Reads from the book. None of this helps me. I didn't understand anything throughout the whole quarter. You aren't given any material to prepare for exams. You never know what to expect on them. Her grading on the exams isn't helpful, it's just giant "X"s and "NO"s.

I would NOT recommend her whatsoever. Her style of "teaching" is very bland, confusing and one sided. Our lectures are composed of her solving the problems and us copying them on our own paper. There is little explanation as to why or time for questions. For labs , we are literally graded on "how well we can copy the board". Petty grader also.

I took Chem121 from Joanna. Joanna cares deeply for her students. She wants you actually understand and learn the material. She is readily available to help you and also provides private tutors. Joanna is tough on the outside but inside she wants you to pass. Show up to class and actively participate! She is a wonderful person! I would recommend.

I highly HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND HER! In Chem 161, she does not give out any homework. It might sound nice, but you would not know what really is going to be on the exam. Also her lecture is very disorganized and she just reads off from the textbook (which is really BAD). As a student and respectfully writing this comment, I do not recommend her.

She's very kind, but is incredibly disorganized. It's nearly impossible to finish the labs in time, and she never checks what you are doing, I hope your classmates can help. Her lectures are sometimes helpful, but they're usually pretty scattered. You MUST read your book and do the problems to get any information, there's no way to pass without it.

She strikes me as someone who either never enjoyed teaching, or became burnt out long ago. Worst teacher I've had at the Falls by far. Impatient, condescending, makes the course much harder than necessary. Arbitrarily marks wrong answers on tests. Take chemistry from L. Jaye Hopkins at SCC, her youtube videos are what saved me during this course.
