Comment:
Professor Hurley takes difficult to interpret writings and explains them in a easy to understand and straightforward manner. He doesn't take attendance, but it is important that you take good notes during his lectures as some of the reading can be very difficult to interpret yourself without his lectures. Required books are in the public domain.

Comment:
Professor Hurley is OK... very monotone so be prepared to doze off in class. Doesn't normally take attendance and rarely lets you out early. Only 3 exams including the final. Exams are simply 1 to 2 essay questions which he gives you in the detailed review the class prior. Easy A.

He is very monotone and doesn't answer your questions in a helpful manner. If you don't go to class, you won't do well in the class. Only 3 finals, and they are blue book tests with only 2 questions.

This professor takes a very difficult topic and gives very clear and concise lectures that make it easy to understand. His grading of papers is lenient by some standards. One of the best professors I've ever had.

Great teacher. He seems to have infinite knowledge on any subject . Takes complex readings and simplifies it in a way that is easy to understand. He does not take B.S. so do your work and hand it in.

I ended with a B in Hurley's class. The class turned me off to philosophy. It is hard to stay awake in his class and his mumbling is hard to understand. If you pay attention on the days before the tests then you will learn all you need to know to pass them. The tests are open-ended essay questions and he tells you the questions the class before.

Take good notes on the lectures given in class, and you'll never have to read the book. Just make sure that you review them before each of the 3 tests and you'll be fine.Tests are about 1-3 questions each on broad topics depending on what/who you are studying. Easy A as long as you pay attention and take good notes.

This teacher is incomprehensible. He talks in circles and doesn't make any sense at all. If you ask him a question he doesn't answer it and makes you feel that your thoughts are completely wrong. The class itself may be hard but staying awake is even harder. Stay away from the class if you can. Good luck=/

This guy knows his stuff, and if you pay attention, you get hooked to come to his class more. You don't really have to read the books, but they help. Not recommended for people who can't stay awake, but for those who can will open a new way of thinking :D.

My whole class was scared sh*tless the first day of class because material seemed so hard. But read the material and stick with it. This turned out to be one of my favorite classes ever. Has some very good lessons in it. He goes over the questions on the exams and drills EVERYTHING into your head.

Overall a good teacher the only problem is staying awake in the class. I foudn myself doodling so much just because he is a very bland teacher. He really is not clear on how to prepare for his tests. They are usually no more then 3 questions just because they are some major ideas going on that have to be written on.

brilliant guy... just listen in class, take notes, and do the reading. You'll do ok. If you go into a phil course expecting to be entertained, maybe try taking the diaper off.

This is by far the most boring class I have ever taken. I can't stand to sit there listening to his monotone voice for an hour and 15 minutes. Philosophy sucks in general, so avoid it if possible. He goes around the room asking random people if they are following what he's saying, and sometimes he asks you to explain back to him what he just said.

He talks alot and it can get boring but thats every teacher. He knows his stuff and if you are lost, show interest. He will know you are at least trying and give you a better grade than you deserve because of the effort you show.

Ok, he gave us the questions for the 1st exam, but not the 2nd. I asked him what I can do for extra credit or to help my grade and he told me that there is nothing except to understand the material. He said he teaches phil not composition and if other students write better than me, than o well.UGH!
