Did not like the class, Stratton was unable to make the class interesting. Never made the material understandable. Everyone in the class was always more confused after class than before.

Comment:

A few words to describe Stratton - cryptic, sarcastic, unpretentious. However, he is very helpful (so much so that I chose him as my adviser). Getting papers back doesn't happen very quickly. He's a very genuine and nice guy once you get past the weirdness. I would recommend taking him highly. One of my favorite profs. Can be frustrating, though...

Dr. Stratton is a very good professor. He respects his students' intelligence, but guides and directs as needed. Don't expect to get papers back especially quickly. We accomplished a great deal in his class, and I have a portfolio of work (this was a Technical Writing class) to draw upon for the future. Would take him again!

Um- Stratton is one interesting guy. He never really taught- we did everything. He never really told us what to do or anything- he let us be in charge- and though we took advantage of it- WE STILL GOT SO MUCH ACCOMPLISHED. He's hard- but worthwhile- He's funny too- :) I'm taking another class with him, he's that good. Try it out- interesting.

Dr. Stratton's Shakespear class was great! We had such a blast in that class. Once, we took a test in crayon (thanks to Princess Kate), we had class sitting on the floor (because we chose to do so), and we even had a pizza delivered to one class. He tolerated us like no other professor of his status would. I think that since we were having so much fun and getting our work finished in the process he let us get away with pretty much anything we wanted. He was awesome!

HE was a dificult professor. He did however make you think in a more broad sense. I enjoyed class and was helped a lot by what he taught me. It prepared me for other courses I had to take. I now wright better than I did before his class.

john stratton is the most amazing teacher at AU... he expects a lot from his students... and he expects you to go see him when you need help... it will be well worth your time... i don't even attend AU anymore... but i still felt the need to clear his name~ take his class if you want to learn

he is very lenient when it comes to turning in papers late...BUT.. His paper topics are very broad which makes it hard to develop Very hard to get a good grade in. Cry about your grade and you'll get an A... I never tried this though but have seen it done
