THIS IS THE WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD! SO bad, omg, just don't take her class. Her slide is like a person who doesn't know how to select the main point, just throw everything into the slide.

Honestly, any of the positive reviews for this professor must be lies. She's not a good professor at all. Worst teacher I have ever had. Her tests are super confusing and 90% of it is not from her very loooong lectures. Her Extra Credit is worth literally like 0.2 points overall. She should not be allowed to teach AT ALL. DON'T TAKE HER!

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Doesn't care about students at all. Had an A for the whole quarter but got a failing grade on the final. Asked her if I could review my answers because I was confident that I passed, but my email was forwarded to a TA who basically told me "too bad".

For someone who teaches development + learning , she sure doesn't put her theories into practice. Syllabus more or less said "don't contact me" and tests are hard, especially the final bc she said it wasn't cumulative BUT IT WAS. I respect her work in the psych field, but what good is studying it if you're not going to use it to help your students?

Took this course over the summer and it was such a drag. The lectures were super long and it was just her reading off the slides. Most of what was on the slides wasn't even on the exam. The exam questions are super specific to the book, so if you don't read then you're not going to pass. There are two discussion posts you need to make every week.

I would never recommend this class with her ESPECIALLY over summer. It is ridiculous. IF you miss one discussion kiss your grade goodbye and take the course over again in the fall because there is no coming back. She is an extremely hard grader, lectures are long while all she does is read generic slides. IDK how she is still able to teach.

This class is RIDICULOUS. Online forum responses due twice a week, a butt load of long disorganized video lectures, and obscure as hell questions on exams. Would rate 0/5 if I could.

She is not a good professor whatsoever. Her "video prompts" were just her reading the prompt. She doesn't really offer much. Her class isn't curved either, so what you get is what you get. Her exams are all the questions from the quizzes, basically. She's not a really good professor, I wouldn't take her again, and I would not recommend her.

She spelled goats incorrectly. Need I say more? The class I took was online. There was only a final worth 60% of the grade and online discussion boards worth 40%. Lectures were boring and just her reading the slides. I was a straight A student until I took this class, and Im a senior.

Really bad! The entire online course for lifespan is self taught. Her lectures are completely different from the textbook (which is what mostly the test is on). She doesn't have office hours and her TAs barely know whats going on. Midterm and final were way too hard and specific. Study the textbook mostly but I would not recommend this online class

Respectable researcher, sub-par professor. Lectures were 70+ minutes of dry, vague, poorly explained content. Too much homework and reading for a 4-unit course. Midterm and final were overly specific and study guides hardly helped. I studied a TON and met with study groups and still got Cs. Id say avoid.

Took her online class (never took psych before). Has online modules, and has students write online responses to the textbook readings (twice a week). Came very close to an A, but this is definitely a self learning class. Tests are not too hard but there is no curve whatsoever, what you get is what you end up with. Overall, I do not recommend her.

This class was the worst class ever taken at UCI. I didnt listen to previous comments left on this site but here I am crying my eyes out during week 10. This class is extremely filled with unnecessary information that has nothing to do with the textbook. That being said, preparing for the midterm and final requires memorizing everything! Good luck

TBH, not so bad. Esay A. The question in midterms and finals are basically the same as quizs. Though I never see the professor, this course is definitely so hard. There are many credits you can get easily by just taking the exams regardless of correctness.

Professor Heckhausen was not a present teacher given it was an online course. Her videos each week were 2 minutes long and it was clear she just read off the assignment prompt. She was not specific about what she wanted on discussion posts and it was difficult getting full credit. Her tests were solely based on memorization.

If you've never taken an online class and you don't know how to properly manage your time, then don't take this course. Online classes need as much time as a regular class, but this class has not given me the best experience. Assigns discussions about her lecture slides but tests mostly on what was on the textbook. Keep up with the readings

The worst professor I have ever had. No enthusiasm, difficult to understand, HORRIBLE scattered lectures that are completely different from material in the textbook. Exams are said to cover lecture & textbook but it's more like 98% text & 2% lecture. I thought I could survive through despite bad reviews, I did but the stress shortened my lifespan.

Her teaching methods were literally doing the least. She brought nothing to my experience to the class other than what I could've just read from the textbook or online lecture slides. I was very unmotivated to learn, and she did not seem to put very much effort in her lessons. Don't take her.

The midterm wasn't that bad but the final was so hard because everything was out of the textbook. If you didn't read at all, expect to just guess random answers on the final. Online discussion stands for 30%, which is a good thing because that will help boost up your grade. Her online lectures were all old videos from previous years. Terrible!

Online class. Weekly discussions and quizzes- quite straightforward. Textbook was extensive (it's developmental after all). Recorded lectures were dull and difficult to grasp. Lecture notes were ridiculous; I wanted to cry. 1 midterm & 1 final on campus. Many obscure questions that rely on an incredible memory. :(
